I have to work Friday but luckily my parents live in Raleigh so we'll spend Turkey Day w/ them on Thursday. That weekend we're planning to see the in-laws as some of the Florida relatives are coming up

Last 2 years I went with my buddy to his brother's and we all ate, and I also worked at Target for those 2 black fridays, now I have no plans and no job (though for this one day that is a fucking god send)

haha sorry guys, I'll just post here what I posted in the other thread.

Yeah this woman, a black friday customer, was trying to cut in line after I told her she wasn't in line to begin with(just making her own line) and that she'd have to go to the end on of the line, which wasn't long yet anyways, the doors had only just opened about 15 minutes earlier. She just stood there, probably thought I was a silly white girl who wouldn't stand up to her. About a minute later she tried to push through the line again, I got between her and the line because I saw the people getting angry and told her to get to the end of the line. She spat. I had her taken out of the store.

We bought our turkey yesterday. It's an 18-pound monster we picked up at Harris Teeter for $7. I had forgotten how cheap turkeys can be

I am going to be home alone for both Thanksgiving, Xmas, and New Years Eve. Yay for not having friends or family(well I have family but I avoid them).

I'm doing nothing for Thanksgiving. I'll be spending it either by myself or with a couple of other folks with no other family around.

^^ Treat yourself to a fancy meal somewhere like Irregardless. My family went there once for Thanksgiving because my dad was on a business trip and my mom was being a fuddy duddy

I don't have the $ for that or else I would. Going out to eat isn't really an option for me

I have already purchased a wee little butterball turkey to cook for us two, but now I am thinking I want to make short ribs instead. It's so hard to plan a thanksgiving menu for two people, when all I have ever done is the large family thanksgiving dinner (with the exception of one or two years of just me, mom, and my brother).

Man I'm going to miss that green bean casserole this year

^^ Why can't you just scale it down? Instead of making 10 side dishes just do 3 or so, and make them in small portions. Freeze some if you have to. Leftovers are one of my favorite things about hosting holiday meals. (On that note, I can't wait until I get to host holiday things again. My family used to have Christmas every year and I did the cooking, but now that I've grown up I probably won't get to do it again until some time after I have kids And even then it could be a battle.)

i was just given the responsibility of the turkey!

AND i'm doing the sides. partly because i love doing it but mostly because i don't trust anyone to make it like i do, and i'm pretty stuck in my ways when it comes to how thanksgiving should taste in my parents home.

^^ Turkey responsibility is a great one. Don't mess it up!

My sister just found out TODAY, via me, that Thanksgiving is at my place this year. You'd think my parents would bother to tell her this since she lives with them

I called my sister today and she said she would take on the turkey. I'm pretty sure that means she is going to buy one from Honey Baked Ham, but atleast it will be tasty!

Oh hells yes turkey pot pie. I make mini ones in these deep dish muffin tins I have and stick them in the freezer for a quick weeknight meal

This weekend I'm going to the farmers market to stock up on supplies for the feast. I'm debating if I should go Saturday before the game or Sunday.

we got some cheap tickets to the Jets game Thanksgiving night. YAY! Still going to cook a little turkey, some stuffing, crescent rolls, and maybe some broccoli for an early supper. It's nice to actually have something to do that night.

i don't really dig canned cranberry sauce

i'm either going to let the dressing/stuffing (i don't really know the approp term) be the cranberry (cause its going to have dried cranberries in it) orrrr do some other sweeter dressing with dried cranberries

that canned stuff is so nasty. i don't know why i just thought about it, but i did and it makes me ill hahaha

i'm not a fan of the jarred stuff at all and no one else really is, except for my mom. i was trying to think of something else easy to do but it's not a staple to us, so i'll just let her be with that wiggly jiggly stuff.

^ omg so funny you posted that i was JUST looking at that recipe

have you made it before? it sounds pretty yummy

my grandmother loves to make cranberry salad. i'm not eating w/ my fam this year, but she is like obsessed with making it (cranberry salad mold...in a circle jello mold thing). and my dad loves it too. its seriously the stuff they serve at like cafeterias and nursing homes. at least that is what it reminds me of. *SHUDDER*

if i don't make something like that ^ i'm not dealing with cranberries at all. except the dried ones in my stuffinggggg. mmmm. stuffing.

Just finished making my cranberry sauce Thank goodness I had a cleaned out pasta sauce jar to store it in until Thursday lol.

This is the one I made: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Persimmon-Cranberry-Sauce-233000

Simple but oh so tasty. Sadly Grand Asia didn't have very good looking fuyu persimmons so I'm using hachiya instead. I don't know how that will affect things. Guess we'll find out Thursday.

Now I have the pumpkin and the cornbread in the oven. Should probably clean the bathroom while waiting for that to finish
