^^^^^There are 2 vets in my town. Took it to the one closest to home. He was not micro chipped and the Vet didn't recognize him. Therefore he became ours.
Also we did drive around looking to see if anyone looked like they were looking for a kitty. No one was

So because the possible former owner didn't take the cat to the vet near you that means he doesn't have an owner?
I wonder if the same logic applies to children and pediatricians.11/11/2010 9:50:36 AM |

I agree.
No tags + no microchip + no one looking for it = it's yours.
This is like the thread about the guy who "lost" his laptop. If you leave your property somewhere (not on your person, house, yard, etc.) and there is no reasonable way to identify you as the owner (no tag, note, name&address, etc.) it is no longer your property. Period.
Anyone who has an outdoor cat NEEDS TO PUT A FUCKING TAG ON THE CAT. PERIOD. FUCKING PERIOD.11/11/2010 9:54:26 AM |

If I find an untagged child in the mall with no clear guardians in sight seems like free game to me. 11/11/2010 9:56:45 AM |

so i took a few home, and looked them over, i saw one that was looking ok so i kept him cause chicks dig a responsible guy. then i took the rest and put them up for adoption at the pound 11/11/2010 10:00:28 AM |

But seriously, cats are property, people are not. We banned that a century-and-a-half ago... 11/11/2010 10:01:22 AM |

and yet if a parent loses their child its considered their property until it reaches a proper age of maturity 11/11/2010 10:03:22 AM |

Seriously though, if he's healthy, pest-free, and has been fixed, he probably belongs to someone. Maybe his owners haven't started looking for him yet because he hasn't been gone long. We had a cat when I was a kid that would disappear for days and we wouldn't start to worry until after a week if we hadn't seen her. It would suck if you got overly attached to this cat and signs started getting posted by a little girl looking for her lost kitty 11/11/2010 10:09:58 AM |

He has not been fixed. To be honest I disagree with keeping "outdoor cats" especially in this weather. The night he found us it got down to the mid 30's and the low 40's the next night. Then you got the predators, hawks, dogs, other cats ect. If you truly care for your cat keep him inside. All the cats we had when I was little during the day we would let them go out side if the wanted. but they had their collars on and were chained so the couldn't leave the yard. When they were ready to come back in or when it got to dark we would bring them back in. Yeah I know they got fur and all but that only goes so far and he is still a baby. We put out found kitten signs but as many strays as I see here in Dunn I don't anticipate getting a phone call.
Now enough trolling. On with the Kiteah Names 11/11/2010 10:18:59 AM |

How is it, then, that my and all my friend's cats have never done either?
Be responsible. If your cat gets out, you let it out. If your cat takes off it's collar, you didn't have it on right. (or get a fucking microchip.)11/11/2010 11:07:17 AM |
