we used to, now it's a mashup considering there are several generations around and most of the "kids" are in their twenties. But a few offspring are around these days so there is a very little kids table now.

our family has just gotten huge!
we have we have like 7-8 under 10
then about 18-20 in the 21-35 range
and then our parents and grandma and papa (like 10)
this is just my moms side(my dad has 10 bros and sisters!)

we actually take turns sitting at the table and if you want seconds...usually we go into the living room.

Yes, at Grandma's house we had a Big Kids' table and a Young Kids' table, but only when there were more than 10 people present for dinner. There wasn't enough room in the dining room for everyone, and it just seemed natural to let the younger folks sit together, considering we were all friends.

Generally the Young Kids wanted to sit by themselves anyway because the conversations at the Big Kids' table would evolve into local politics, local gossip and arguments. Meanwhile, the Young Kids would talk about much more fun/lighthearted topics.

We all got the same food and we all got to drink. It wasn't a hierarchical thing, as most of the Big Kids would sneak off to the Young Kids' room since we were having more fun.

Definitely. We had grandparents and aunts/uncles/parents at the big table, then me, my sister, and two cousins at the "kids" table.

Up until grandma passed away last year, I was still at the "kids table" at the ripe old age of 26...just because nobody was dying out in the family and we didn't have enough seats at the big dining room table.

Now we've moved thanksgiving and christmas to my mom's house and everyone just floats around. We have two nice tables and people switch it up for the sit-down dinner.

the threshhold for the kids/adults difference increases every year, so no matter how old me and my cousins get, we're always the kids.

Yes, and I love it.

My family is old as fuck. I have three relatives over 100 and another several in their 90's come over every holiday. Grandparents, Great Uncles, Great Aunts, the whole shebang. The big dining room table seats 12 and the youngest person there is in there is damn near 60. My brothers, my cousins and myself sit in the kitchen wolfing down our food and playing drinking games while the geriatrics take 15 minutes to chew each bite.
