But you're comparing apples and oranges. The produce you're getting from the box should be of higher quality than what is available at HT. If you compared the box to what you would pay at say, Whole Foods, that would be more comparable I think. Especially if you're getting a box of organic produce.

That said, if they weren't giving you much variety in your box, it wasn't a very good CSA box imo. Ones I've done have been very good about giving you some variety. And whatever you don't want to eat this week can be preserved for later use. It also gives you a chance to get creative with your cooking. Like you might be sick of grilled eggplant, but you could make baba gannouj, which doesn't taste much like eggplants at all imo.

You're saying that a box of vegetables sitting on my doorstep for 5 hours in the sun is going to be better than what I can get from the Farmers Market?

No, I'm saying a CSA box should be better than what you get at the supermarket. We were not comparing the box to the farmers market were we? And if you were doing a CSA that meant a box was sitting on your doorstep in the sun for 5 hours, then it wasn't a good choice for you. There are plenty that deliver on weekends or you go to a location to pick it up, ensuring that it stays fresh.

I suppose you didn't actually read my comment.

Also, we were talking specifically about THEPRODUCEBOX, not some other CSA you're going on about

^^ I'm just saying it's not really fair to compare all CSAs to just one. If a CSA is something people are interested in and the first one doesn't work out, there's plenty of others to choose from
