No, I've done that.

If the taped end of the string is long enough, you can scoot it through just like the safety pin method...

Thanks for reading the context. (fail)

There's nothing wrong with old houses. I'm just saying:
Quote :
"old houses generally already have plenty of metal hangers, and not [newer] plastic ones,"

And...

No, but I own some, and I know where they are. Wow.
But here's this anyway:
Quote :
"[assuming you have paper clips, that are available everywhere, for cheap as shit, that can be used for a millions things, so why the fuck wouldn't anyone have them] not being able to find your paper clips implies that you're disorganized."

That actually adds to my more general point -- paper clips are easier to obtain than specially bent coat hangers.

then again, within arm's reach is a harmonica, a cigar cutter, a leatherman tool, two lighters, a emery board, a small turtle figurine, a plush gorilla, a flask, a camp saw, a tobacco pipe, a baseball, a frisbee, white and black cream make-up, and of course, my college degree.

This is like my fuckin captain's chair. I can blow up the whole god damned world from here.

Is a coat hanger within your arm's reach?

I have to roll my chair back about a foot to reach a metal coat hanger. So kind of?

the funny thing is that my desk doesn't appear to be that cluttered most of the time.

now is not one of those times.

Okay well it's funny to me, at least.

i don't have paperclips here at home. i have no use for them. i don't print at home, don't clip papers. if i have to bind paper somehow, i use a stapler. chris might have one squirreled away in some paperwork for work somewhere

...but i have tons of wire hangers. dry cleaning FTW/L/?

oh and my house is old.

so how does the age of a house determine what type of clothes hangers you have?

my house is fairly old, but it didn't come with clothes hangers

1. cut open threadable area with knife
2. place string in area
3. staple back together

This really isn't that hard. Takes like five minutes. You don't need a hanger or a paperclip or a clothes pin. Feed it through one end. Bunch the fabric and pull the end through til you get to the other side. I have several hoodies I'm had to do this to.
