^That makes sense, I was thinking a hit-and-run where the person/vehicle was never found.
EDIT: Also, on further review my policy does state there is a $100 deductible for uninsured motorist coverage for property damage. It's bodily injury that has no deductible for uninsured coverage.

I haven't read everyone's response, so this might already be answered.
But if someone hits you and they drive off, you just call the police and sit and wait. All you really need to file a claim is a legit police report. Insurance companies usually honor hit and runs. It's usually better that way because there's only one side to the story...yours. It only sucks if there's a lot of damage (car and medical), and your uninsured/underinsured won't cover all of it.12/10/2010 9:20:10 AM |

My car was rear-ended by a guy with no insurance. I can't say he was illegally in this country, but he was Hispanic and only spoke Spanish. Nice guy, though. He used one of his daughter's hairbands to hold up my muffler so it wouldn't drag along the pavement. The cop was less friendly. He talked down to me for not speaking Spanish myself and was generally unpleasant but I can understand the attitude with the crap he has to put up with everyday. 12/10/2010 9:41:32 AM |

She wasn't drunk. According to the police report, she lost control of the vehicle when she hit the gas instead of the brakes. She was 21, the car wasn't hers, she didn't have a license, and she didn't have insurance. She hit my Eclipse, knocked it into the car next to it and up onto the curb, and somehow managed to shoot right between two trees and into that poor family's living room.
I heard the crashes while Sonia and I were watching a movie. You could just tell it was a car wreck. I rushed outside, called 911, checked on the driver and the family, etc. It was a mess. No one fucking spoke English. 12/10/2010 9:44:17 AM |

I, too, have been hit by a foreigner who only spoke Spanish. Mine blew .24 and had insurance. Rare combo.

My sister did this when she was 15 and driving in and out of our driveway. She ran into the front porch. It was funny, I laughed.12/10/2010 9:53:22 AM |

Oh, for sure. I was with Allstate at the time, and so was the vehicle's owner. My car was totaled, and the claims adjuster valued it at $6,000. That was enough for me to buy a used Civic with under 1,000,000 miles straight cash. Not a bad trade, honestly. Just inconvenient at the time. 12/10/2010 10:05:35 AM |

I rear-ended a hispanic man during my senior year. It didn't do much damage; just a big scrape on his rear bumper. I offered to exchange insurance info but he declined and said with a nervous smile "es ok es ok. I go now, bye bye". 12/10/2010 11:38:25 AM |

I genuinely think one person can't possess this much bad luck. I think that there is a certain amount of drama that they think they need to get attention and this leads to said "bad luck" or they put themselves in situations where things tend to go wrong/poorly. The person I just broke up with a few weeks ago seemed to possess this trait. I also think they say/do things just to get you to feel sorry for them thus giving them more attention. This needy trait is not one that I can put up with. Some guys love that and are all about a needy girl. 12/11/2010 3:14:03 PM |
