That's a neat way to sharpen scissors. I normally just hit them with the diamond and ceramic knife sharpening stones.

ftw

there is a lighter version... i've tried it, but things like 90 degree box angles have a propensity to tear or poke through it

dang. That's too light then.
Is it heavier than typical cheap wrapping paper?

I like how you can crank down on the heavy craft paper and not worry. It's a manly man's wrapping paper.
I shoulda taken pics of the presents I wrapped the other night. They were willow tree figurines and those boxes have sharp edges. The edges and corners looked like you cut the present out of a block of wood.

"if you want to do the sliding scissors thing, you have to sharpen the scissors first. take a 12" of aluminum foil and fold it into a 3" square, so that you have several thicknesses to cut through. then take the scissors and cut small strips off the aluminum until the scissors are sharp. take some cuts at the tip and some cuts at the base of the blades so that they are sharp all the way down. if your scissors aren't too bad it should only take 3-4 snips. you can save the rest of your aluminum square for next time. "

not really... it's maybe a little less thick than 2 sheets of newsprint

Nah, I'm pretty terrible. Did you actually look at the one box I wrapped? It was all

^ we'll you've given me presents that were nicely wrapped before. Maybe you just put a lot of effort into it.
