I remember when I lived at UT all the stupid unspoken elevator "rules"
1. if you get off at the 2nd or 3rd floor, someone starts cussing at you. (some dumbass started when i got off on 4 one time) 2. as soon as everone gets off, hit the door close button (even if people are waiting) 3. when you get off at the 9th floor, push all the buttons 4. try to ignore the guys who hit on every girl who gets on the elevator 5. laugh at the wierd convesations that 6th floor girls bring on
i got an RA to give me an elevator key, so you just turn the key and ride down non-stop

i read somewhere the door close button doesn't do anything unless you have a key/card. it's a placebo button to make us feel better. the door closes anyway, which only reinforces your belief the button actually does something.
i still mash that motherfucker if a weirdo is creepin up.
edit: i guess only some of those buttons are placebos, others do work. (according to wikipedia's placebo button article)
