Oh comon' Bridget, I was just playing devil's advocate. I'm not making a "big deal" out of it, I was trying, perhaps a little derisively, to suggest that it's not necessarily a good assumption to think that a minority ethnicity must surely and always value MLK Day over the creation, advancement, and achievements of the American presidents, or that MLK day should be split in its appreciation in any way.

i dont feel like MLK day or Presidents day or Veterans day is worth taking a day off work for.

But at the same time i feel that the holidays were created as national observance so that people wouldnt have to feel pressured into not taking a day to observe when others, like myself, dont particularly hold any value to it. Point is there are people who probably do take these days to actually observe its purpose, and I feel they should have that right to do it freely and without worrying about coworkers who decide to come into work...just make a day off for everyone.


Hell you see how people act when coworkers take a sick day.

Actually, public schools in Hawaii have "Kill Whitey" day, where a lot of white kids are harassed and beat up for no reason, and often teachers don't do a damn thing. My sister was in middle school and while she didn't get any trouble, she saw quite a few boys get bullied.

I've decided to keep all my black chilren home on MLK day. We will be celebrating by cooking fried chicken and collard greens and having watermelon afterwards. Then we will go to the park and play basketball. Then I'll whip them with my belt and post the video on YouTube.
