I had just pulled out of a gas station and was driving down a road that runs between two big neighborhoods. It was a little after sunset and was dark enough to need headlights. The gas station was well lit so I had forgotten to turn on my lights.

A cop passed me and looked right at me and started to make a U-turn. I realized I was about to get pulled for my lights being off so I busted the first right I could and made as many turns as I could to get lost in one of the neighborhoods. I think the cop gave up after the first turn.

I forgot about the summer after my senior year of high school. I was riding on top of the roof of my friends car when we passed a cop at a stop light. he told me to hang out and he made a quick left in his jeep. a few quick turns later he slowed down and i jumped off and got in. We could hear the sirens but the cop never found us.

Every time I go past an entrance to a subdivision or a turn after a sharp curve I always check to see if it would be a good ditch point if a cop was after me. I have mental notes for just about every road I travel on a consistent basis. One day I play to use my knowledge to ditch a cop. Or some road rage asshole.

I've never run away from a cop right behind me with the lights on, but I've done stuff like what's described in the original post a whole bunch of times, except that they generally don't turn on the lights until they're close behind you (presumably to run your plates, etc?). I'm not sure I've ever run from a cop with the flashing lights on.

If the lights aren't on, you aren't running because they aren't chasing you. You're just preventing them from chasing you.


I wouldn't do it nowadays other than just making a quick turn or exit...I have too much to lose (security clearance, custody, etc).

When I got pulled over the first time I was really close to trying to run.

I was on the interstate and I was going 80 in a 65. As I went past him I saw him turn on his headlights and pull onto the interstate. I was at an exit and so I was like "sweet I'll exit and lose him" but then I was in one of those damn chargers and by the next time I looked in the rear view he was flying up behind me and I was like "fuuuuuuuuuuu"

This undercover cop tried to pull me and three other cars over on 85N in Warren County. He drove by each of us and told us to pull over moving from the front to the back car. I was in the middle and before he got to the back car the guy up and took the closest exit. We thought he would avoid the ticket, but a few minutes later he came back and parked on the side of the highway and got a ticket. It was funny.

are you talking about the intersection of North Hills and Millbrook? because no, I started going fast after that. so if the intersection was after that headed west towards Creedmoor then yes.

needless to say, all of this shit was reckless as hell and occurred when I was in high school. I have a lot more respect for the law and the fragility of human life now.

One time i ran on foot, was in a neighborhood i didn't know at all, got lost in the woods so i walked down the first street i came to. unfortunately it was straight back to the party i was running from, so they just picked me up

just once...was at a motel 6 in huntsville alabama. the cops busted in on my meth lab. i hit one of them in the face with a flask and bolted out of the room, hopped on my bike and got away through this back alley. i knew the alleys so good there

There have been two times on 40 where I and another car were doing 80+ when I've blown passed a cop on the side of the road. Both times after I passed the cop, I pulled to the right lane and slowed to 65 while the other driver kept going at the speed we'd been driving. Both times the cop flew passed me and got the driver that didn't slow down.

Not really bad ass but I was still laughing at the other guy for taking the fall

no, not 100% sure...but there was NO ONE else on the road, behind or in front of either us and it was pretty open...it was also pretty obvious that i was going way over the speed limit

the other time was in high school and i was doing 30mph over on this long open back road and it was a sheriff's car that put on his lights

when i was a kid, my brother, the neighborhood kids and I were setting off fireworks in the street at night, timing it so they went off under or in front of passing cars, and of course one of those cars was the police. he yelled at us to stop, so of course we all ran like madmen into the trees along our block, hoping to duck recognition and parent telling. he caught up with a few of my conspirators, but as luck would have it, I got clotheslined by a low branch that made me see stars right as the police officer was sweeping his beam of light around looking for us. when he turned the corner I popped up and hightailed it to my house's back porch where I found my brother already waiting for me. still had our fireworks, too!
