That map on page 1 was for some reason completely shocking to me. I figured it wasn't real. So I've spent the past few minutes on the census website looking it up.

There's no way my parents could say anything. My dad married a black woman before my mom, and my grandpa wouldn't walk my mom down the aisle with my dad based on this.

My grandparents in PA are racist. Anytime they thought the cashier in ACME was slow and she/he was black, they just attributed it to that "nigger attitude."

my husband, Fumbler, is 3/4 chinese & 1/4 cambodian. my mom was a little weird about it at first bc she was afraid of what the rest of the family would think but none of them cared. she's retarded. his mom had a problem with me being white for a few years. after she realized i wasn't going away, she got over it. she tried REALLY hard to find him an asian gf though. we've been together for 9 years now & married for 1.5 years. so the racism can definitely come from either direction.

i almost dated a black guy in high school but decided i didn't want to deal with all the crap i'd get for it. i would have gotten some from my parents probably but way more from my dad's side of the family...which is funny bc now my cousin has 2 half black kids. she's been banned from family get-togethers until last xmas. soooooo stupid.

I have a cousin who failed out of college, got very obese, went bat shit insane, didn't pay college loans, used said loans for non-college shit, lots of ridiculous crap...basically got disowned by the family for awhile.

She ended up marrying a black guy, turned her life around, is doing fairly well as far as I know, and the guy is pretty cool.
