bsg aint that great. for a character drama there are too many annoying or bad characters. and season 3 and 4 fucking suck bad 3 is just unwatchable.

All the B plot shit is what made Caprica so bad. And SGU was all B plot.

DS9 owns because the characters all own. I cant think of a single DS9 regular or semi-regular who's as annoying as Roslyn. Even the kids in DS9 are well developed and that shit is fuckin hard.

Yes Farscape was the shit the the "muppets." It was a Jim Henson production and had a good bit of animatronics (Rigel, Pilot off the top of my head)

BSG/firefly+serenity >>> all

i am having trouble ranking them against each other. i think firefly would win if it wasn't canceled early. i think in terms of what actually aired BSG would get the nod, but i rank them even in the spirit of what could have been for firefly.

what was the fin of DS9? I forgot. Was it that epic battle fight in which everyone is shooting everything around DS9 and DS9 fires like 9000 photon torpedoes and shit? I need to rewatch the whole series again, I haven't seen it since they first aired.

Favor the Bold/Sacrifice of Angels in S6 was a pretty epic battle

What you Leave Behind was the finale battle

As mentioned, babylon 5, for me, was the best sci fi series ever. I didnt get into until late, and I understand why a lot of people missed out, but it had the best story, period. I enjoyed all of the Star Trek series except Enterprise, which I didnt even give a chance. Stargate is definitely at the bottom of all.

B5 was pretty good for its time, but I tried re-watching the series last year and I couldn't get around some of the poor set designs and cheap production tricks. They even said initially that they rushed some of the set designs because of poor planning. I mean they only had a budget of 850k per episode compared to 2mil for DS9.

B5 looked cool but I was pretty young. I remember the cg looking goofy when I rewatched it a few years ago. Its still my favorite sci-fi because of the story. Season 1 was dull but really built up the next 3 seasons. Season 5 doesn't count.

I guess DS9 had the same effect - I never really thought it was interesting, but it got really good at some point and I missed out :/

If you ignore pretty much every regular human on the show (including part-humans) the acting isn't so bad. B5 is still my favorite Sci-Fi series, mainly because of Londo and G'Kar.

yeah, those two were the only saving grace of the show. Plus their costume was pretty good for a low budget tv show. And ditto on Enterprise, that was a shitty series. How the hell it made to 5 seasons is beyond me. It was hard to suspend my perception with the captain being from Quantum leap and the Engineer as a Wraith from SGA. They should have jumped forward into the future and followed their timeline, but god damn the fucking latest startrek movie that fucks it all up. Entertaining movie, but it just nullified every previous ST series.

^haha you just rated firefly equal to voyager? voyager is EASILY the worst off all the star trek series. I actually came to enjoy enterprise more than voyager. (actually enterprise has some really good episodes and story arcs... (and a few really terrible ones too.))

^^I respectfully disagree.

Clips scenes from ST:OS; ST:NG; STS9; ST:V and a couple of the movies. Set to "Time Warp" from RHPC. I submit that one can call oneself a Star Trek nerd if one can recognize every scene.

Just remember, like most SciFi series TNG Season 01 /= The rest of TNG. The same is mostly true for DS9.

It always takes a while to work out the kinks.

(Oddly I preferred the first two seasons of Voyager, and then it started to annoy me)

Just finishing up Stargate SG-1. It wasn't bad, but like a lot of long run shows it's starting to fall off at the end. Which is a shame 'cause I like Ben Browder and Claudia Black.

Think of the last two seasons as like a compressed replay of the rest of the series.

watched the two part DS9 pilot last night.

apart from dealing with 480, i really enjoyed it. I watched the show off and on during its original run. i don't remember Sisko being so....stiff. was that only early on?

he was very stiff in the early parts, got better, but when he was asked to be the primary character for a whole episode he overdid it IMO. Still worth watching, but I enjoyed the episodes where Sisko was on screen for more than 75% of the episode the least.

Which Star Trek had the intro with the song "It's been a loooooooong road...".
I saw it on TV one day and thought I'd give it a shot; however, when I heard that song in the intro, I burst out laughing and just changed the channel afterwards. It just seemed so out of place.

(PS. I know that I can just Google it, but this is my way of making fun of the show . . . admittingly one that I did not watch).

if you're watching enterprise everytime the intro starts mute it and play this one:

ds9 has some pretty great lighting and camera work and the cgi aged pretty well (completely unlike b5), so its not that bad for a 90s show. especially compared to TNG which is so brightly lit. i would pay so much money for 1080p film transfers of ds9. like all of the money.

Easier to just skip the intro's... shit, some of torrents have the intro's cut off.

DS9 had a much bigger budget than B5 (2 million vs. 800k per episode). DS9 used limited CGI for the first 4 seasons while most space shots was still model photography based to keep to "realism" (model photography was more expensive than CGI at the time). It was only till the start of season 4 till they started to use CGI more and more. Defiant was the first CGI ship in DS9. Once they hit season 6 & 7, DS9 was using CGI for over half of their FX production.

it would be awesome if they remastered DS9 in wide format and in 1080p resolution as well. I'm sure the rescanning and editing for an entire series could easily be recouped but that's a major undertaking of man power to do, even if you had all the source negatives and hoped they shot a bit wide. I'd be a bit worried about the FX portions since those would probably need to be rebuilt from scratch.

Hard to justify, but shit... they should do a kickstarter product for a remastering effort.
