PS, not sure if it counts, but piddlebug's family puts ice cubes in to alllllll of their drinks (even OJ at breakfast and things like that). I thought it was weird when I first saw it, but now I find my self reaching in the freezer in the mornings when I'm about to pour myself a nice glass of juice

Mom used to make "Onion Burgers." These basically consisted of ground beef and onions cooked on an electric skillet with a can of french onion soup. The loose beef and onion would be piled on a bun. Done. It was one of those "Oh shit, I'm running late and the kids will be hungry, I better make something fast" kinda things.

Also, my Dad would cook the shit out of everything on the grill, especially chicken. Looking back, chicken and bugers would be inedible to me now. After years of suggestions, Dad finally gets steaks medium-well instead of well done.

I guess the vinegar on french fries is a UK original, just saying that you always have the option in Philly whereas in Raleigh you don't see it on the table unless that restaurant serves fish and chips (usually). Much of the time fries are served out of cups also for this reason.

My old, Southern grandparents won't eat a steak unless it is a shitty, think t-bone cooked past well done to the burnt-piece-of-shit level, with a ton of liquid smoke and/or Worcestershire sauce and THEN they put ketchup on it My moms side, however, eats good cuts of steak rare to medium rare and we have cooking it down to a science.

Moms side grandpa puts peanut butter and jelly on ice cream (sounds gross but is pretty tasty), which may not be all that odd. We also call sunny side up eggs "dip eggs" and one of our favorite meals is fried spaghetti, where you let spaghetti sauce and noodles chill overnight and then dice them and fry them (so dank).

again, it's standard at most/all restaurants in Philly and Five Guys started in NoVa and Pennsylvania area anyway. Charley's subs has vinegar and so does Steak Escape at the mall but it's just not the standard on every table like it is there.

Though we would often eat apple slices and cheddar cheese together. Sometimes we add a cheddar cheese crumble to the top of apple pie. This is really common in New England but apparently unheard of in NC.

my grandmother used to feed us bacon and butter sandwiches at her house

i thought everyone's grandma did that. then i found out bacon and butter sandwiches are not very healthy and that most normal people put some lunch meat in there. or at least a piece of cheese.

vinegar on fries and salt on fruit is not weird, though.

when we were little we used to eat cheese toast. we called it daddy cheese though. i thought that was normal until like 2 weeks ago. i mean i guess i always suspected it wasn't an official name for cheese toast. but i told eric about it and now he thinks i'm even more weird.

also, another thing I thought of, that kinda works in this thread- in my mom's house, we did not have sloppy joes unless they were accompanied with baked beans... and at a young age, I got in the habit of putting some baked beans on to my actual sloppy joes- delicious!
