I'm not saying that this is OK...and I hope that no one got killed or suffers any severe permanent injury...

but I don't really feel sorry for those douchebag motherfuckers, and in fact laughed out loud when I watched the video.

^^ no, they're a bunch of holier-than-thou dickheads who go out of their way to be a pain in the ass. I'm not saying that running them over is OK, but they were doing something they shouldn't have been and did 100% bring it upon themselves.

I ride my bike and even I think the Critical Mass stuff can be pretty annoying and pointless (in fact it is counterproductive). However, I would never, ever consider being that much of a reckless asshole while in a car. It's not worth possibly killing someone over.

Good thing I explicitly stated "I'm not saying that this is OK...and I hope that no one got killed or suffers any severe permanent injury" and "I'm not saying that running them over is OK".

I know you did
I can't troll with a straight face anymore

anyway, I can totally see how groups of people inconveniencing others is justification for homicide

I, for example, shoot the elderly, children and the handicapped if they are walking slow on the sidewalk

The driver should be lauded as a hero for breaking up the group before they actually achieved critical mass and created another Chernobyl.

^^^Do I need to tear those statements apart, or can we just agree that those last 2 lines are complete bullshit trolling?^^

^^ agreed in some places, although i think that's often illegal (not that bike boys tend to care much about that).

It's not that bicycles should never be on the road...it's that they should use some common sense about when and where they ride, and they should recognize that even if they have the legal right to be there, they still are an impediment and often a hazard, and should do everything they can to mitigate that.

running through stop signs, stop lights, riding down the middle of a lane, in large packs on busy streets...these are things they shouldn't do.

If you're training for your tri, good for you, but go drive 15 minutes or whatever to some rural roads where you aren't such a road hazard for yourself and others.

Groups like Critical Mass specifically AIM to cause problems for everyone else. I'm not advocating potentially killing them, and I hope that none of them get killed or paralyzed or whatever, but if they get their bicycles balled up and have an arm or rib broken or something, well...they were significantly contributory, they had it coming, and I don't feel sorry for them.

I just came here to say

Quote :
"I know some of you sick fucks have thought about doing the same thing."

The haters are so predictable,

the Reasoning behind Critical Mass IMO, just so you can TRY to put yourself in their shoes

-Most believe that bikes should be allowed just about anywhere that cars are (within reason). A lot believe that if more people rode bikes a lot of positive changes would occur in our society. Some better infrastructure planning would go a long ways in making biking more popular and safer.

-most drivers have absolutely ZERO awareness of cyclist or where they are allowed to ride. Lets face it most drivers are oblivious. Most cyclists that log lots of miles every week, whether as destination bikers or for training (and so do their friends) know someone that has been killed. That shit is senseless. There is more than enough room for everyone. People are always in a hurry and drivers get lured into this sense of isolation (because they are wrapped in metal and glass cut off from the world) and take unnecessary chances.

-For many cyclists, the only time they will ever feel comfortable on roads is when they are riding in a large pack, its a lot of fun. There's power in numbers and cyclist should not have to tiptoe up the white line always looking over their shoulder, afraid for their lives.

and the only way they feel they can create awareness is by throwing it in the face of drivers.

Does that give me the right to ruin everyone's day every month?

It does.

Just like bicyclists who know someone who has died should do the same, and not try to cheat the law by moving between cars at red lights and rolling through stop signs.

I ride about 100+ miles a week. I make sure to be visible and not a dick while riding. Most people who get mad with cyclists are fat lazy fucks who only care about their shitty lifestyle and how even the littlest thing will piss them off to no end. Much like this guy who took it upon himself to senselessly mow down this crowd. It's situations like this that cause me not to trust any motorist while riding responsibly in my daily activities.

The best part was the 20 or so of them sprinting full bore full of righteous rage as if they actually were going to run down a vehicle on foot

I think one of the only things that pisses me off about cyclists is when we all roll up to a red light in our vehicles...

then, the cyclists pretend that they're not a vehicle for a second, bob and weave in between all the cars and pull up to the front of the line, then proceed to go slow as fuck when the light turns green.

Right because participating in an organized group bicycle ride means you should expect to be run over by a crazy person, and therefore deserve it. And then you deserve to be laughed at by people on the internet who don't know you.
