In my class where they teach us how to read words and stuff and then figure out what people are trying to say when they write stuff and stuff, I think I figured out that the author's intent and stuff is that saps852 may potentially want her, maybe

so now that I've thrown down my understanding ---- I'll take a stab at it

It's very hard to break up a relationship like this and possibly compete with it because you don't know the full situation. Obviously this guy is living off her and doesn't have a job. Why would she tolerate it? Maybe he's her pusher. Sounds 80s cheesy slang bullshit, but it's totally true. I used to live next door to a couple where the girl drove a 80g luxury SUV and he drove a beat up 80s taurus. She was decent looking and I'd have considered bwning since we were being young professionals living in proximity could probably make something happen, but douchebag bf was always at her place. His fulltime job was to take her dog out on a regular basis, and one time he got locked out very early in my tiime living there and rolled up on me as I was getting out of my car asking me to let him in the front door of the common area. I literally thought he was a street person and told him that I didn't know anything and to step back from my car. Then I realized just how bad he was and made the connection that was the boyfriend.
So anyway, as time went on I observed more about their relationship and they would have disputes. He would be kicked out, he would take her car, he again, never had a job because he was always there.
Then I figured out that he was a small time drug dealer (long story) but it saved her time to continue to support this guy because he was her supplier. Think of basically a fulltime employee who you keep around to pick up your drugs, take care of your pet, and have sex with you. Basically, I discovered this trend over the course of two years by observing this behavior and questioning why she would tolerate it. If not "drug dealer" then think "drug collector" meaning your job is to pickup the shared stash without putting risk on the person who's actually the breadwinner.

Point is, the formula isn't complete because you're questioning the leverage this guy seems to wield over her, and that's the big X. The X could be anything from supplying a drug habit IN ADDITION TO great sex. Or maybe the sex is TERRIBLE but she loves the drugs. Or maybe it isn't drugs and it's just the fact that she doesn't think she can do any better.
Either way, next time the bitch dumps her life story on you, quickly say excuse me and go make out with another chick at the bar in front of her.
