Fuck that, movies and TV have overlap, but you take your Gone With the Wind shit up out my thread for The Wire, son.

A table-top RPG is a board game. Otherwise, it's just a RPG.

we all decided the access (cheap books at b&n) and story of shadowrun were compelling enough to try that first. so far we have 4 definites. I just got my ruleset book and im reading through that trying to figure out exactly how the game works. 4/3/2011 9:18:00 PM |

I've played 2 shadowrun missions and had a lot of fun. I wish I had been up on this in college 5/7/2011 6:34:17 PM |

I am selling the DnD 3rd Edition Player's Handbook, DM Handbook, and Monster Manual. All three in mint or near-mint condition. $40 for the lot. I'll be in NC this weekend.
Also looking to sell some 2nd edition stuff (Spelljammer, Tomb of Horrors, etc.)
And also the original first-run box set for 1st edition Basic DnD (the infamous pink box).
PM me if interested. 5/25/2011 10:24:06 AM |

Well, we got to level 8 before our dm finally dropped someone. Hiding from circling white dragons in a dug out camp site in the snow in icewind dale and 4 ice elementals popped up inside camp and cornered our monk. It doesnt help that 5/7 party members go invisible at the drop of hat and limit targets for enemies.
*Great idea for 2+ gnomes in 4e is the gnomish 'shoving match' to set off fade away for everyone to get in position and not be seen, it just bones the few ppl that cant disappear

If I were running your game, I would not allow that fade away bullshit. Talk about gaming the system, eesh. 5/25/2011 4:44:48 PM |

meh, we actually hit each other, its just minor damage (and burns a round of combat, so its not something we do every time but in the right circumstance its useful). We've always played under the if its technically legal you can use it, but its gonna bite you in the ass later theory. I expect to be full and utterly destroyed no later then level 20, our bards probably got the same life span, or less. 5/25/2011 5:47:18 PM |

I haven't played Warhammer 40k since 2008 and I'm afraid to drop money on a new rulebook if I'm not going to actually play. Ever since I moved to Raleigh, despite coming from the middle of fucking nowhere (coastal NC) to a larger metro area, I never see any 40k stuff and I never meet anyone that actually actively plays it.
Quote : | "I've also played Warhammer 40k for several years. Currently playing at a place in Cary called The Gamer's Armory. They specialize in board and war games and have an extensive game library if you want to play a game before you buy or are just looking for a way to kill time." |
Besides The Gamer's Armory in Cary, is there anywhere else nearish to Campus that sells 40k or where people play 40k? I know the people that work at Roth Brewery play 40k in the back room, but that's about it.5/26/2011 10:34:17 PM |

Game Theory has Warhammer 40k listed on their Meet-Up page.
http://www.meetup.com/Game-Theory/
They say on their website that if they don't have the books and whatnot you're looking for then they'll order for free and you could purchase it at their store, which isn't too far from campus.
Also, the Raleigh Tabletop RPGs Meet-Up might play.
