My high school wasn't ghetto, in fact it was anti-ghetto. Rural high school, about 450 people even though it was the only one in the county, and IIRC a grand total of 4 black kids when I was a senior. But the school still pretty poor (except with computers, we had a crapload of computers for some reason) so we had the square pizza.
And the spaghetti that was basically just noodles and beef, Many of us put ketchup in it to make it taste more like real spaghetti.
Basically the only really good thing they had were the rolls, they were large and fluffy and delicious. And those were like 10 cents each so I'd get like 3 extras. 4/22/2011 6:14:00 PM

we need to start something new for school lunches. everybody dont just start jumping up and down in the cafeteria, do a chant with it.
like...we start eating and then along with it go "mmmmmmmm" and get louder like "MMMMMMMMMMMMM" and then switch to "SNACK! SNACK! SNACK! SNACK! MMMMMM SNACK! SNACK! SNACK! SNACK! MMMMMMMMMMMM! POWER SNACK! POWER SNACK! EAT THE SNACK!" and then serve a big piece of meat or somethin. i think it would get kids nourished.

Amen to that. Mexican pizza was the shit...or as we would have said back then...the bomb. Rare though, it usually showed up 3 or 4 times a year.
Our sausage pizza was rectangular, but the pepperoni was trapezoidal. Anyone else have trapezoid pizza? I'm assuming they were trying to get the shape more like a slice of actual pizza while still being able to maximize the bakeable area in a rectangular sheet.

Two years later...it's now getting to the point where some schools are banning students from bringing their lunch at all. You are required to eat in the cafeteria. Both in response to things like peanut allergies (many schools have banned all forms of peanuts and peanut butter) and to hit federal targets for "healthy" eating. Fucking ridiculous in my opinion (one story had a quote from a mom whose child had his lean turkey breast on wheat sandwich taken away and replaced with chicken nuggets. Yep, that's a health upgrade. ) 3/29/2013 10:05:36 AM
