$1,500. Organic bed. Natural latex, bamboo fiber and organic cotton. Big ass pillowtop. I actually got a deal because he gave me the queen for the price of a full, free pillowtop cover and a free frame. That guy rocked!

i worked in the mattress business for 3 years while i was in school. its kinda funny, we sold john edwards his mattress.

spending 400 on a mattress is a waste of money, because at that price point its probably only made to last 2 years which is why yours sucks ass now. we didnt have kingsdown though, or serta because they accounted for 80 percent of the warranty issues we dealt with. tempur pedics are a solid call, they have the best warranty option and you can actually return the bed if you dont like it (but the shipping fee back is $250.00). my issues with tempur pedics are that the warranty covers an inch and a half of body impression, and they guarantee that impression wont happen for 10 or 20 years or something. the problem with all of this is that in reality the material will start to break down and you will lose support after 7 years even when there is 0 body impression. tempur pedics have the same life span of any other high end bed they just make it look better. they also sleep a little warm, because the tempur material is activated by body heat. you need circulation in your bedroom or youll be sweating balls. sealy beds are good, they use alot of memory foam layers in their middle to upper end beds and nearly all of them have a foam encasement around the outside of the mattress which makes a difference whether you know it or not. my number one go to would be simmons. they have a pocketed coil mattress and this is great when it comes to motion transfer across the bed. nearly every other company has intertwined innersprings. and sleep member beds...i despise them, in my eyes its a complete waste of money. find something you like. lay on it for 30-45 minutes and be prepared to spend som cash if you want results. 8-1100 bucks isnt alot for something you spend a third of your life on for 7-10 years. oh yeah, pillowtops are great and fluffy, and if you love them...go for it. expect warranty issues because of body impressions thats all im sayin.

oh yeah, you should buy a stainproof/dustmite resistant mattress protector. always go for free frame and delivery and talk the mo fo down. its really hard to compare mattresses because the names change between stores so find out what layers are in each and you can figure out whats closest when comparing.

Is it true that you are supposed to rotate your mattress every 6 months or so?

yea, it evens the wear and increases the life of the mattress. whether its just you or youre sleeping with someone

^^and i meant a half inch body impression for the tempur pedic not an inch and a half

^ i might have the same one as that. it was just over $600, dunno exactly what it was though.

it's been nice, my back feels a little better and it's been just over a month, but i am hotter. my old bed was just a hand-me-down so i have no idea how old it might have been.

My current problem with my mattress is that its large and very soft. I think I need a firmer mattress for my back. But as I've had it for 5-6 years now I'd rather wait out a bit more before looking into replacing it.

they're great if you and your spouse have completely opposite mattress requirements.

I like a really firm mattress-- I would be comfortable sleeping on a plank. However, soft mattresses make my shoulders hurt.

My wife is the exact opposite, she needs a soft mattress. The only way to make us both happy is the sleepnumber deal. It's a glorified, overpriced air mattress, but at least we both sleep well.

I think ours was like $3500 about 6 years ago.

King size Simmons Beauty Rest for somewhere around $1600, but I didn't know you were supposed to negotiate prices

I think it's a great bed, but for whatever reason the box springs/frame seem to make the mattress dip a little. I was already using the correct middle supported frame and split box springs so we just put the mattress straight on the floor and it's been great.

wife and i did a mattress search/research aboyt 3 years back. went to 5 stores and saw everything one can imagine, up to $8K+ swedish beds (not ikea). even a michellin mattress (yes, the tyre company).

heck, we even had 2 or 3 mattresses delivered to our place and we tried each one for i don't know, about 4-5 days.

couldn't figure anything out, and the weeks of research went down the drain. just dropped it all, and figured it was easier to sleep on the one we already had, which gives me back pain on a lot of days, because it is too soft for me. didn't want to spend thousands and still potentially suffer. and i can't understand how one is supposed to choose a mattress anyway. if i have back pain from my current mattress, it would take at least a couple of weeks or more, for it to go away on a new mattress, if indeed it is going to go away on said new mattress. and what if it doesn't after say, 10-14 days? stores don't take back used mattresses (at least not here) (except for that one store that let us test them out, but those were only tempurpedics).

My wife and I have been "tire-kicking" mattresses lately. We just moved and didn't notice until we got to our new place that our mattress is sagging quite a bit in the middle. We'll probably wait until the spring and use our tax refund to buy (or put towards) a new mattress.

I was kind of interested in the tempur-pedic beds until I was able to sleep on one at a buddy's house. He had it in his guest room since he said he didn't like it. Woke up covered in sweat and slept the rest of the night on the floor. Since then I've read a lot of reviews from people who have experienced the same thing

$300. Got some pillow top shit. It was too soft, so I flipped it over and sleep on the hard part. Much better for me and my back. All the more expensive beds felt too soft.

It doesn't show any signs of sagging in the middle, so I'd say it was a steal for me.

Memory foam seems terrible for anyone who likes a firm mattress or doesn't want to sweat their balls off

Ok so I did it! I went back to sleep train and bought a Simmons beautyrest anniversary edition queen.
I went in after looking at jc penny and the comparable bed was no pillow top but at the end I got her to give me the comp version but with the huge pillow top.

Free shipping plus they have a 100 day return policy. The mattress also had a 10 yr warrenty.

Not that it super matters but orginal price was 2000 I got the upgraded for 1000

It comes Tuesday and I am excited.

Thanks for everyone's advice in here it sure helped.

Summary from shopping: this was the most stressful mattress shopping bc every place carries the same thing but diffrent name. But look everywhere and then get where u like to match and beat.

To the people with the sleep number beds:

Any issues with the following?
Noise from the pump?
Leaking air?
Uncomfortable sleeping in the middle where the 2 chambers meet?
