You've drank of the Reagan spin machine coolaid ... Reagan was elected, but not sworn in. President elects have no part in foreign negotiations ... Carter negotiated them out. They were released the day that Reagan was sworn in. The myth was that it was because they were afraid of Reagan. In truth, they didn't want Carter to get the credit because of his support for the Shah. Next thing you know they'll be saying Reagan reduced the deficit by lowing taxes ...
