Sad, but the nature of the beast. I oft wonder what relationships would be like if this never happened to a guy. For me, it taught me how not to be a walking doormat in a relationship and make sure I meet some of my own interests.

They can't screw over a douche bag, though, because he wouldn't put up with their games to begin with. The only outlet they have for that sort of dominance fulfillment is extract it on the genuine nice guys.

I went through this scenario more often than not and, looking back, it was my own damn fault and I am much better for having gone through it. Am I more of an "asshole" now? Sure, if you consider making sure your own needs are met instead of continually putting the other persons every whim over your own being an asshole.

At this age, the only thing that pisses me off about that entire dynamic is that those same girls who pull that crap complain, complain and then complain some more that they can't find a decent guy to date, when in reality they have a guy who is doing everything it is that they want in a boyfriend and isn't even requesting sex.

Amen. i actually came in here to post this but GoldenGirl beat me to it. i actually don't mind if my boyfriend has girl friends, especially if they're girls who he's been friends with before he met me. but when the girl tries to "stake her claim" on my boyfriend when we're clearly together or tries to do things to make me angry or jealous, then i have to draw the line.

Talking about people they've fucked/hooked up with/etc. For one thing, as soon as somebody starts talking about that I assume it's 98% bullshit. So at this point my only role in the conversation is judging your skills at erotic fiction. (The verdict? You're bad at it.) The flipside of that is the pathetic competition for women, especially at the end of the night. Last weekend I watched five of my acquaintances practically fall over one another trying to talk to this one extremely average-looking female, each telling more absurd and transparent lies than the last. OK, yeah, they're human beings, but they're not goddesses.
