Only read the first book so far, and pretty excited for the movie. I'm sorta wondering in the movie if you will get as much information on how the districts were set up, I enjoyed the back story (what little they give you in the book).

Also all of the psychological stuff where Katniss was second guessing basically everyone -- that was the best part of the book IMO. I'm interested to see how the writers take care of it.

i'm loving the choice of Donald Sutherland as President Snow; i think he is perfect for that role.

^2 I think that was my favorite part, too... I like the actress they picked for Katniss - I think she'll do a great job playing her

I just finished reading listening to it, and it was soooooo good. About to download the 2nd and 3rd books for my Thanksgiving and Christmas drives I found myself screaming in the car SHOOT HIMMMMM and stuff like that, so I hope the movie is just as suspenseful

I'm really happy with who they picked for Rue, Thresh, and Foxface

after finishing the second book and having seen the character names the cast will play more pieces were filled in. not sure how well they could pull off getting the entire trilogy made into movies, will see how the third book turns out

I just finished the second one, too! I have the third audiobook ready to go, but I think I'll wait to start it tonight when I'm making dinner... The second one totally didn't go as I expected (which I liked a lot), but I'm torn with this whole Peeta and Gale thing

I'm excited to see how they play out the cave part. I know it's pretty romancey but im hoping it's not over the top and that you can tell when Katniss is doing it just for show vs the one time she feels something

That last Vanity Fair picture just makes me laugh: it's funny to see them all smiley together in a field knowing that they'll be brutally slaughtering each other in the movie.

I doubt they will - considering the author was even involved in approving cast members, I think she'll be on their butts about how much time people get

But... they did cut Madge :\

supposedly they stuck very close to the book when making the movie. This is coming from a friend who worked on the movie and is a huge fan of the series

just finished the last book. good series and solid character development even in the supporting members. would like to see this be a full trilogy in the movies, but could easily see it flop with a poor director

ehhhh, assuming they split the last 2 into 3 movies....

the trilogy had the matrix feel to it. the first COULD be stand-alone, but after you read the second one you HAVE to read the third

as long as they cut the first half of the second book down to a 15 minutes segment of one of the movies, i'd be ok. but at least one of the movies will be boring/mindgames.

I was thinking the actress they picked for Clove is pretty cute, bet its one of those girls that's actually in her early twenties playing a kid... wrong I feel dirty.

I love the casting for Katniss and Gale. I can't decide if I like the casting for Peeta.

And the jury is still out on Gale vs. Peeta. I feel like Katniss owes Gale, and he loves her, but she clearly doesn't feel that way about him, and there's something about the Peeta that I've conjured up in my mind that's compelling. However, the image of Gale in my mind (reinforced by the actor choice) is one of raw sexuality, and that's hard to compete with.

Peeta looks hot here: http://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Josh-Hutcherson-as-Peeta-Mellark.jpg But he just doesn't match my view in my head. I just pictured him as bigger and hulking I guess.

PS: I've only read the first book, so my opinion may change!!

it's a tough call Peeta vs Gale. Gale to me always came off as more big brother/best friend then romantic interest where Peeta seemed to me to be the real love interest, Katniss just didn't know how to deal with it and accept it because of the events of the games in combination with being a young girl and emotionally scattered. but as for who i was pulling for for Katniss to be with, it was Peeta. i guess i related more to him.

i read this trilogy and liked it well enough...it was undeniably YA and stupid easy reading (not that that's bad, it just took zero effort and to me, that makes it less gripping)

katniss annoyed the hell out of me the entire time

I flew through all three books in about 4/5 days while at the gf's house in Connecticut over Christmas. I've never read any of the Twilight books and have seen bits and pieces of one or two of the movies...but I'd be highly disappointed if it ended up like that shitfest. The one thing I kept saying to myself while reading the books was..."this could be an awesome movie."

I hope they don't gay it up like the Twilight movies.

while it could be as bad as Twilight I dont think they will do that. there will be certain appeals to the young adult and young teen audience but i dont think it'll be like the Twilight shit.

Started reading book 2 today, really enjoying the plot but I feel like there is a complete lack of character development other than the love triangle.

She's pretty much the same person at the end of book 1 as she is at the beginning.

Also, the filming location shouldn't be a shocker since the book places District 12 in the Appalachians. I was also picturing western NC during the arena scenes just based on the woods, lake, and elevation changes.

Whenever I hear the term "Appalachia" I immediately think West Virginia and NC, but that might just be geographical bias on my part.

Just finished book 2, starting 3 tonight.
