Go on a dating site. Find a reasonably attractive person that belongs to the sex that you date. Ask them to go to the show with you. Profit.

I think it's like high school.

You have to be around for a while before you figure out who's cool and who's not.

If you go to try and hang out with the cool people on your first day and get rejected then you're a big loser before you find the friends who you were supposed to hang out with from the beginning who were the sucky people but you hang out with them because none of you are cool.

Or so I heard.
