I love my ring from state- it's that rectangular onyx one, and I wear it occasionally. Unless you look very closely, you can't even see the school logo engraving and whatnot. Can't seem to find a picture of it online that I can link to tho :/
6/12/2011 1:17:30 PM
Kind of like this? That's similar to the one my mom wore.
6/12/2011 1:20:43 PM
I pictured something like that but less gay
6/12/2011 1:21:58 PM
Oh damn, I didn't even notice what school that said on it .
6/12/2011 1:23:39 PM
^^^ basically. (It's got the block S logo on the onyx, not a crest/seal.)guess I would've had better luck finding a picture of it if I tried searching for any onyx dinner ring instead of an ncsu one [Edited on June 12, 2011 at 1:25 PM. Reason : ^]

Well then according to this thread, you're a douche for being all "hey look at this sweet COLLEGE shirt I got when I went to COLLEGE"and if you wear a high school shirt[Edited on June 12, 2011 at 1:37 PM. Reason : asdf]
6/12/2011 1:36:18 PM
I wear my high school shirt when jogging
6/12/2011 1:38:13 PM
I also didn't realize how much you people care about what jewelry someone else wears. Do you judge someone based on what watch they're wearing too?
6/12/2011 1:44:36 PM
I have no idea why any guy would buy and/or wear a class ringI remember my sophomore year of high school asking my parents if I could get one and my dad looked at me like I was retarded
6/12/2011 1:45:19 PM
Of course people do. People make judgments off of fashion choices all the time.

6/12/2011 1:48:28 PM
eh, fuck it I like my class ring *shrug*I still wear mine as I never take it off . . not sure if that's laziness or stubbornness? It's also entertaining to have people try and guess all the inscriptions on there. I majored in dinosaur science and am a Washington Monument enthusiast.[Edited on June 12, 2011 at 1:55 PM. I'm amused that you seemingly know so much about me. My problem with "hipsters" has nothing to do with their fashion...except for skinny jeans on guys, that shit just looks uncomfortable. Are you judging them for what they wear?My irritability to watch-judging stems more so from posts from people on this website saying they think less of a person who wears a cheap watch, as opposed to people who wear extravagant, thousand dollar watches.
6/12/2011 2:00:03 PM
I think it just comes down to personal preference. I haven't been wearing mine latley cause I've been working in my lab like nonstop and don't wanna mess it up with chemicals or anything but I like wearing it.Haters goin' hate.

My uncle gave me one of my grandfather's old rings when I graduated. It looks way better than the shitty university rings.

6/12/2011 8:27:29 PM
i used to wear my class ring from college every fucking day til i lost it
6/12/2011 8:29:04 PM
I think class rings look stupid with a few exceptions.1) Girls, Their rings are smaller and it's harder to tell it's a class ring2) Military academies (including El Cid, VMI... maybe T A&M). Simply because you're in an environment where that ring shows you're part of the fraternity that is your academy.... also it's likely your boss also wears one.3) You're a HUGE Supporter of the alum. association and attending a school event (ACC tourny game, Home coming, etc...) as such. 3.a) you work for the university.

My $0.02 worth:I regularly wear my Texas A&M undergraduate ring. Of course, the TAMU ring is a major part of the University spirit and culture. The TAMU ring is very distinctive: I've recognized fellow Aggies from their class ring at public places all over the country. That connectedness is part of the University legacy.I didn't get a ring for my Ph.D. albeit earned at one of those ivy covered places: seemed to me that a class ring is an undergraduate "thing." For HS graduation, I asked my father for a dinner ring rather than a high school ring. I suspected that wearing a HS ring at college would be considered {fill in disparaging epithet of choice}. That, and my father had a black star sapphire ring that I'd always liked and so I asked for something similar. Now that my father is deceased, I wear his on formal occasions and, perhaps, my stepson will wear my old one in time.
6/12/2011 8:42:43 PM
I had never heard of a black star sapphire ring until now... very pretty!

A couple of years ago, my grandmother gave me my grandfathers State College ring from like 1954. I hate jewelry so I never wore it but was honored to have it; well one day she got on my case for never wearing it so I wore it to a football game but I lost it at the hotel The hotel claimed they found it and mailed it back to me.[Edited on June 12, 2011 at 9:37 PM. 6/12/2011 9:37:16 PM
^ "Claimed" is an odd word choice there, because it almost makes it seem like you don't quite believe them.[Edited on June 12, 2011 at 9:45 PM. Reason : "The hotel found it and mailed it back to me" would sound better to me]
6/12/2011 9:45:31 PM
if you graduated from an Ivy you would probably feel the same as if you graduated from State. You would only impress people that had no Ivy league friends, but chances are if you graduate from an Ivy you're either a) too smart to give a shit about proving it; b) in the highest circles of American society (usually rich as shit) and regardless, all of your friends will probably be Ivy league or at least top 20 grads and you'd look even more pretentious.I have a class ring, but like my high school ring I never wore/wear it. I hate having a ring that heavy on my finger and if people ask me where I went or what I do I tell them. I do, however, wear the absolute shit out of some NC State apparel and have all sorts of throwback shit and memorabilia at my house.
6/12/2011 9:46:01 PM
^^he probably means that the hotel lied and insinuates that it was lost in the mail

thats some bullshit. sucks that happened. don't know why somebody would steal one though if it didn't have sentimental value. they have very little value on their own if you melt them down or whatnot.

6/13/2011 9:34:31 AM
i've got one, i never wear it. But it's a cool thing to have in my box on my dresser and unless i pawn it for crack maybe my grand kids will find it and like it in an old box of my stuff when i'm dead and gone.
6/13/2011 9:42:35 AM
Am i supposed to be impressed
7/11/2011 5:05:58 PM
I sold my high school class ring to one of those gold buying places... then got my nails done with the $. Yeah I didn't get a lot for it, but I hadn't worn it in 10 years and it was highly unlikely that I'd ever wear it again... and I really wanted my nails done. I didn't get a ring from State because I knew I'd be getting my Master's from somewhere else. So to me it would be like wearing my high school ring in college.
