I have recently started salting my watermelon and I never looked back. I can kill a large melon by myself in one day. Some days in july or august that is all I eat. I won't turn it down ice cold, Luke warm, salted, unsalted. But my preference is ice cold and lightly salted. 7/10/2013 9:38:01 PM

I haven't eaten watermelon in several years. Probably 10 or more. I always just ate it plain and spit the seeds at people. 7/10/2013 9:53:25 PM

Recently rediscovered I LOVE eating watermelon, so this past week that has been my go to snack. Since I've been trying to be healthier with my eating habits, this definitely helps! Makes me feel much more full and I can stay hydrated at the same time! 7/11/2013 8:50:24 AM

Plain, although my dad always salted his. Oddly enough, my mom put sugar on hers.
Fun Fact: What we refer to as cantaloupe here in the U.S. is not actually cantaloupe. It's actually muskmelon. True cantaloupes are pretty much exclusively grown in Europe. They taste pretty much the same, but look quite different.
American Muskmelon ("Cantaloupe"):

^interesting...here's some further detail on that
http://web.extension.illinois.edu/dmp/palette/070729.html
Quote : | "The term cantaloupe refers to two varieties of muskmelon. What we typically call a cantaloupe is Cucumis melo reticulatus, also called the North American cantaloupe. The variety name reticulatus refers to the net-like appearance of the skin, also called reticulated. The other variety, European cantaloupe, Cucumis melo cantalupensis, has ribbed light green skin and looks nothing like what we commonly call cantaloupe.
While both of these cantaloupe varieties are muskmelons, not all muskmelons are cantaloupes. " |

Why would you need to put sugar on watermelon?? Its sweet enough already.
I can see salt...but its fine on its own. 7/11/2013 9:36:40 AM
