while i can't fathom not enjoying italian food, i can see how it could be too rich for some folks out there. the portions at Dolce are massive. one time i got just regular old spaghetti and meatballs, and it must've weighed a pound, not including the plate or bowl or whatever it was served in.

Fiamma and Portofino's are my favorite places in Charlotte for Italian.

2 entirely different types of Italian. Portofino's is your family style more Americanized Italian/Pizza joint whereas Dolce is more traditional and authentic (and expensive).

I much prefer Dolce because it's not all the greasy pizza/pasta you get typically from an Americanized Italian place.
