"All American for fayetteville is in reference to the 82nd Airborne, the "All Americans.". The 82nd is located at, you guessed it, FT Bragg."

Wolf2Ranger, while "All American" is indeed the motto for the 82nd Airborne Division, that is not the reason why Fayetteville is called an All-America City.

Quote :
"More than 500 communities have won the award, some as many as five times. All-America Cities have shown the ability to innovate in such areas as job creation, neighborhood revitalization, crime reduction, new housing for low income people, improving education, and engaging youth.

The award program was founded in 1949 when a newspaper reporter approached the National Civic League (then known as the National Municipal League) with the idea of naming the 10 best governed cities each year. Instead, the league created a program that recognized cities for civic achievements."

A. Really? Washington? Is it big enough to be the heart of anything? Granted, it's the last thing you get to before 30 minutes of desolation until you cross the bridge into Manteo, but...

B. Inner Banks just sounds stupid.

Raleigh - Raleigh-Durham

As someone who lived within 5 miles of Lillington, I've never heard of "L-town". I'd be ashamed to hear to that as a nickname for the town, but I can say the same thing for residents of Fuquay.

Nobody that is originally from Washington calls it that. Still not as bad as the Inner Banks thing.
