^^I was sure there was an official thread about Firefox, but once again, I was looking through the threads and didn't find one in the past few months that seemed germane so I made a new one
I'm thinking it's because the threads were sorted by start date and the official thread was started back in '08 Quote : | "FF 4 just came out not too long ago, and I just got the pop-up today asking me to go to 5." | Firefox has moved to a faster release schedule: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2382205,00.asp6/21/2011 7:40:33 PM |

Unless you create symlinks (or configure your launch shortcut), you're writing your temporary internet files to a disk that has a limited amount of write/erase cycles.
Now, granted it's a pretty obscene number and it's highly unlikely that your web browsing alone will kill it, but I'd still prefer to minimize writes on the off-chance.6/21/2011 7:48:31 PM |

My SSD is the only drive in my home computer. It'll probably be fine. 6/21/2011 10:25:30 PM |

i've become addicted to my many firefox addons (the most likely source of the high memory footprint)...i could do without some, but i haven't found the chrome-compatible extensions to replace firefox completely 6/22/2011 11:08:34 AM |

firefox 6 beta is noticeably faster than ff5
that could be because 6 of my add-ons don't work, though 7/11/2011 8:56:32 PM |

Standby for Firefox 7 ... and this is why we don't name threads with version numbers. 7/11/2011 10:40:33 PM |
