Plays nice for me without tweaks.

^^I was sure there was an official thread about Firefox, but once again, I was looking through the threads and didn't find one in the past few months that seemed germane so I made a new one

I'm thinking it's because the threads were sorted by start date and the official thread was started back in '08

Firefox has moved to a faster release schedule: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2382205,00.asp

Unless you create symlinks (or configure your launch shortcut), you're writing your temporary internet files to a disk that has a limited amount of write/erase cycles.

Now, granted it's a pretty obscene number and it's highly unlikely that your web browsing alone will kill it, but I'd still prefer to minimize writes on the off-chance.

My SSD is the only drive in my home computer. It'll probably be fine.

i've become addicted to my many firefox addons (the most likely source of the high memory footprint)...i could do without some, but i haven't found the chrome-compatible extensions to replace firefox completely

firefox 6 beta is noticeably faster than ff5

that could be because 6 of my add-ons don't work, though

Standby for Firefox 7 ... and this is why we don't name threads with version numbers.
