This woman is insane. I am kind of hoping she wins the primary because not a single moderate would vote for her.

How does she come out and say things like "We need to get the government out of people's lives," and then sign on to ludicrous shit like this?

Gary Johnson Refuses To Sign Vow To Eliminate Porn & Gay Marriage & Abortion

http://revolutionarypolitics.tv/video/viewVideo.php?video_id=15646

You know, I can't help but think that some of the popularity of these outrageous politicians is due to the constant attention they get from "the left," and by that I mean those that want to see Obama re-elected. They'd rather have the GOP nominate some clown that they can easily shoot down than have a genuine debate.

maybe some.

But I think it has more to do with conservatism attracting the worst of society. Birds of a feather, etc., etc..

Just to be clear, I'm including you in the group that doesn't want to have a genuine debate. You just want to keep "your team" in office.

the popularity is because the media keys in on the most outrageous statements. no one watches boring, issue driven news, and because people like bachmann and palin give wonderful quotes, they get more publicity.

it's not a grand scheme to keep democrats in power by promoting the weaker candidates. it's a grand scheme to get ratings, sell newspapers, and ads on the radio.

^^ if by “my team” you mean people who want to see society advance, rather than regress, then you’re definitely right.

gold standard is idiocy, flat taxes are idiocy, and idiots who believe this LOVE Michelle Bachmann.

Except Bachmann got elected, and reelected in her district before the media picked up on her. Nationally, I guess, you can use rabid media to explain some of her popularity.

But look at Renee Ellmers. She seems in the same range of capacity as Bachmann, but managed to get elected. There are genuinely LARGE amounts of people out there who want us to become the Christian version of Saudi Arabia.

You're delusional. If starting new wars, expanding the drug war, encouraging irresponsible fiscal policies where we create money to cover deficits, and reducing civil liberties is how we "advance society," then I don't want any part of your "progressive" society. It sounds like you're advocating policies that are actually very regressive in that they make us poorer and less safe, then labeling it "progressive" to avoid having to substantiate those positions.

Is d357r0y3r for real?

If I have a choice, I won't vote for Obama again.

However, Obama has a loooooooooooooong way to go before I'll vote Bachmann or Palin over him.

My original point was that Obama supporters are purposely honing in on these absurd candidates. Candidates like Gary Johnson (see the video I posted) are very sensible, yet receive very little attention.

Now, I don't blame this purely on GOP opponents. There is a lot of sincere support for Palin and Bachmann, and that's sad for a number of reasons.

you're phrasing suggests conspiracy, which I don't think is the case.

it'd be more accurate if you said, "simple minded people are following a lazy, ratings-focused media."

the same people who dismiss/ignore Gary Johnson and Ron Paul do the same to Dennis Kucinich.

...but you do have a choice. It's called not voting for anybody. I don't know where you stand on voting for the "lesser of two evils", so this isn't directed at you, but a big part of the problem is that people keep perpetuating the idea that they have to vote for one guy or the other.

I'm personally a fan of the "none of the above" option they have in some places, where if it wins, new candidates must be redrawn entirely. I think if you did that, as well as take the fucking straight party vote off of the ballot, we'd see far more change in DC than by any other outside influence we currently have. Of course, those won't happen because if there is one thing that both parties can agree on, it's that they want to stay in power.

^fantasy option. that method would lose its appeal quickly when "none of the above" wins time and time again. far left liberals are going to vote for obama. even begrudgingly, because we'd rather see slow progress than michelle goddamn bachman ruling with an iron cunt.

honestly, i wish obama was as liberal as conservatives paint him out to be. unfortunately, he's not. but that shouldn't surprise anyone who was actually paying attention during the elections.

Even the conservative media is honing in on these crazies. How often do they let your Sarah Palin and Bachmann on Fox News? Hell, they PAID Palin to be on Fox News. They're giving the crazies and outlet to voice their stupidity to be later picked up by MSNBC, CNN, ABC and other liberal news organizations to take and use against them.

Let me preface this by stating that I find Bachmann to be deplorable...

What is Bachmann going to do? Start another war? Keep detaining people at Guantanamo? Give handouts to corporations? Keep enforcing strict drug laws? Extend the "Patriot" Act? Keep protesting FOIA requests? Hold closed door meetings about transparency?

Sorry. I don't see a huge difference.

i know its popular for liberals to hate on obama for not being liberal enough. i know i'm upset that he hasn't made good on his deal to close guantanamo, continuing wars, etc, but let's be real here: he ain't michelle bachman

a) it's laughable that you think she's electable at all

b) you ascribe far too much power to the presidency. They're more like the man behind the curtain than a puppeteer pulling the strings.

she's not electable. at all. i don't think anyone actually thinks that. at least, i hope not. in fact, her gaining popularity almost assures victory for obama, as she'll likely siphon votes away from whatever the republicans can muster up. republicans need a strong candidate that they can rally behind. it's almost ironic that the party that is known for having such a strong, single-voice narrative can't seem to get its act together.

although it would be fun to listen to her contradict herself, make huge mistakes about history on the regular, and flat-out get destroyed in debates.

To be honest, I kinda like Gary Johnson. He's fucked however:

Quote :
"Q: Do you draw the line at marriage because you are religious? Johnson: I was raised a Christian. I’d like to think I have Christian values. I don’t attend church."

Actually watching some of his videos, I really like him. Then I have a sad face hearing the FOX News talking heads say "aren't your stances on legalizing marijuana and a woman's right to choose going to hurt you in the nomination process."

anyway...Bachmann was all over Good Morning America this morning about how she is in solid 2nd place in the Republican primaries. I really can't believe this shit. What happened to true conservatism, small Fed government and staying the fuck out of people's lives. I'm not happy with Obama, but he's a far better candidate then this Bachmann wacko.

she has migranes severe enough she has been incapacitated on more than one occasion.

the example getting thrown around the most was some fundraising speech(?) she was forced to exit quickly and lie down off stage.

also she reportedly can be bedridden for up to 24 hours by these things.

i have migranes too- never put me out for 24 hours but i have had to lay down in a dark office at work before because of them. the reporting on it is somewhat ridiculous however. the media thinking her migranes make her unfit to be president as compared to her other problems.

many presidents have had health issues temporarily removing them from the command chain. of all the things to paint a bullseye on her for this isnt it. it makes them look desperate when they dont need to be.

I'll just copy and paste my response from Reddit re: the migraine thing because it really pissed me off.

Speaking as a sufferer of migraines, and as a person with a basic concept of reality (i.e. a person who knows that Michelle Bachmann is utterly insane), this is fucking stupid.

Not to mention the fact that Josiah Bartlett concealed his Multiple Sclerosis and was one of the greatest presidents of all time.
