They screw us over on speed every year. Some linebackers are just as fast as TJ graham, our fastest player.

Speed is god in these games. They always make the good players faster and the shitty players slower.

its basically the same as an offline dynasty, but everyone has to play their games and do their recruiting each week before the commissioner advances the league to the next week

theres a lot of league customization options, obviously you would rather have an even number of teams, don't know what conference affiliation we're gonna do, could be a custom one, decisions that will be made by Commissioner hey now in the near future

and like if somebody signed up for TWW last week, they wouldn't have priority over somebody like Jaybee1200

i won it a few years ago with maryland. hopefully that'd give me like an honorary invite like past Masters champs. i probably wont be getting this one anyway though...try to get these sports games every other year since so little changes year to year.

I think you can have up to 16 teams in a conference, so

i say we do custom conference...then we'll just get all the big dogs in one conference that everyone wants to be.

how are we gonna do teams? put 16 in a pot and draw straws?

16 teams is way to much. We will never advance and alot of players will be stuck because someone will not be able to play at the right time.

I think tenure in this league should decide who is in.

Why don't you just say something like we advance every 3 days or we advance every week. If you don't get your game in, too bad.

We have always said that but it for some reason 3 weeks in we lose all control of advancin when we start user games. Believe me this has happened for 3 years

sounds like a poorly ran league then. theres two ways you can do it. fast paced or user paced.

fast paced: you set a time interval for advance. If that time interval is three days then you have a sim time setup for the 3rd day at x o clock. if one player can't show fails to show up for the scheduled time in the window then the other player gets to play the computer before the sim time.

user paced: after the advance each player puts out times they can play. you find matching times and the sim time is set for 1 hour after the latest matching times for a user game. 16 teams is not too much. There really isn't much point in doing a dynasty if you're not going to get through 4 or 5 seasons (get your own players in) and to do that you have to have dedicated players. People who aren't able to play the game at least every other night shouldn't really be in an online dynasty. Weekends and holidays excluded.

Theres a few different formats for doing an online dynasty. Putting everyone in the same conference is probably the least exciting and never lasts. The best thing to do is to put no more than two players per conference and play all non conference user games. This makes for a very exciting bowl season and a league the runs much more smoothly.

I do think it would be cool to have teams spread across conferences, as long as we can get plenty of user vs. user games in OOC games. Last year we had half the teams from the Pac-10 and the other half from the Big Ten. I wouldn't be opposed to having 2-3 teams from multiple conferences, but I think most people would prefer to play more user games than computer games.

Expecting the league to go 4-5 seasons deep is setting yourself up for disappointment though. Temper your expectations to a solid month of exciting league play and at least one full season.

As far as timetables of advancing weeks, in the past we've basically done a combination of what you suggested. Most of the time players communicate well enough with each other to get their live games in within a few days of advancing the week. If they don't do their manual recruiting, that has been simulated for some teams. There hasn't been a big issue with people not being able to play games in a timely fashion until the dynasty got older and lost its new car smell.

But the bottomline is until we actually get the game and look at the actual online dynasty creation, we're not going to know all of our options.

Damn. IIRC, in 09 I played in 3 that went at least 3 or 4 seasons and one that went 9 seasons.

In 10 I played in 2 of those same four groups and went 3 seasons before dropping out and one that went 6 seasons before I dropped out because they were advancing everyday.

In 11 I played in one that went 2 seasons before I dropped and is now in its 11th season.

That said, I have seen some that didn't get off the ground and that was all because they were poorly run. The only reason I dropped out is because I was doing major travel and couldn't keep an internet. As far as scheduling, you set up home an home contracts for non conference user games and let the users decide who they want to play and when(personal rivalries develop). the commissioner has to set it all up preseason. This works well as long as there aren't more than a few teams in each conference. I've seen it work with three but after that there are just too many user games for the dynasty to survive. If you wanted to just play all user games you should do a non-dynasty league but the beauty of dynasty is to actually be able to build a program and recruit a ream to play against others with. This works well with <5 user games per season.

A well run league can go very long even if you are only advancing twice a week. I will already be running one with friends and don't want to run any more but will be glad to give advice on how to run this one from here.

[Edited on July 4, 2011 at 7:49 PM. Reason : i hope they have a neutral field option this year]

I guess you're probably right that less user games would lead to more seasons, since I can play a computer game whenever I get a free 45 minutes instead of also having to find a time when the other user can get a free 45 minutes. Some interesting points for the commish to consider.

and during those games you become connected to your team which makes you more pumped for the big user games. Also, like I said, epic bowl seasons.

I haven't played a regular dynasty game since they started this even though most of my games have still been against the computer.

Another thing I've done are hotseat leagues where you have 2 years to meet a requirement or you are fired.

The really cool one I was in you had to win a conference championship or go to a bcs bowl once every two years or you were out (one other user in the conference). We had like 15 people so there would be like 3 or 4 people waiting for a new job each season. The good thing about this was that you could not take someone elses teams so users were constantly building up the other teams that the computer used

The best one I was ever in was one where you had to pick a team of B or lower. There were no conference restrictions.

Thinking about just pre-ordering this from Wal-Mart for $56 and then trading in NCAA 11, Madden 11, and Fallout : New Vegas for Tiger Woods using amazon....trade in values make Tiger free if I do that.
