There is a mental phenomenon that women can develop where they truly believe that they cannot get pregnant when in fact they are perfectly healthy and can get pregnant...

This obviously leads to some "surprises."

^ good friend of mine (who wants kids) dated a girl who told him she couldn't get pregnant. But then surprise! She got pregnant, came up with some lame excuse to break up with him and went back to her 'ex' bf. Let him see the kid once, but wouldn't even put his name down as the father.

We had already booked a date at the san fran courthouse on Aug 1 to be married (money down the drain). The plan was that I would run the SF marathon on July 31 (which I had been training for, more money down the drain), then we would elope at the courthouse in the presence of a friend on Aug 1. However, after finding out about the baby (FFFUUUUUCCCCK!) and talking it over (which was more like doing some strong convincing), we dropped everything and just eloped here in Austin. Yes, this was very hard on her, but it felt necessary so we did it.

Yeah, this did not turn out well. My biggest mistake was ignoring all of the red flags. All of the times that she would get mad and start hitting me and choking me, all of the times that she would keep me up at night becuase she had trouble sleeping, and all of the times that I had to do her remedial Math and English homework becuase she just can't do it. I let a good lookin girl use her looks to live off of me for 3 years, and now she will be able to have my financial support forever. The day that she met me is the day that she stoped working for a living. All this time I thought that I was being nice, but she was just using me.

^^ This surprised me too. She basically finished her artsy and creative courses but flunked out of all of her math. I had to help her through basic 9th grade algebra to the point where I just thought that it was better to do it for her. She has zero capacity for learning math and writing. It is actually incredibly embarrassing, and I am sure that she feels bad about it but just ignores it. In this day and age, it is prolly the same as somebody being illiterate.

I am sure that her literacy rate is actually really low. She use to tell me that she felt bad reading out loud, but in reality I think that she struggles with it. This was another problem in our relationship. She would come to me for help, and I when I realized that she could not do basic MaVa=MbVb or write a cover letter for employment, my face alone said everything. She does not have a job, and I am sure that it is because she can't even write a cover letter that sounds like a normal 12th grader wrote it. I tried helping her, but it just became obvious that I was on a differnet lever and that I was lecturing her.

All of this came out after the OMG marriage thread. She was basically hiding it untill I was in a position where I had no other option.
