The best defense is to learn the life lesson that creepers abound and notify your boss of the situation. Don't react to the guy when he talks to you. Savvy creepers are experts at getting a reaction out of people. The real battle is establishing mutually recognized boundaries that notify him and everyone around that if he crosses it there will be consequences without ever having to utter a word. Creepers skate the line on purpose with the strategy of obfuscating personal boundaries

the fact that you have a physical reaction upon seeing this person (adrenaline rush, shaking, as you described) is really a cause for concern. your instincts are telling you something and you really should listen. stop being "a girl" about it and trying to be nice. tell him to back off or you're going to be forced to take action, or better yet have your boss tell him.

the gun suggestion is only if you feel comfortable carrying & using one. mace is a good option and so is a taser.
