All of you who cancelled the disc service: don't forget to return your disc ASAP to avoid a fee.

I'll also be canceling the streaming part. It sounded cool but I stopped using it after a few months when every movie I wanted to get was only available on dvd. Now I just get blue rays anyway. Better quality ftw

And its still funny how they raise the prices right after choking the life out of blockbusters' brick and mortar operation.

Is there a secret to when movies get released on netflix in DVD form? What about in streaming form?

I.e. is it DVD gets released, then netflix gets it 2 weeks later then it streams 4 weeks after that? Or is it just random? Or does it depend on which studio the movie is?

DVDs it's generally a month after they come out

there's no rhyme or reason to the streaming schedule

The price doesn't change until September, so you've still got some time to get use out of the DVD portion.

I mainly use Netflix to watch TV and random movies I always meant to see but never got around to. As such, the dvd thing isn't such a huge concern, just disappointing.

id already planned on cancelling once i finish out my queue, another 30 movies or so, so not really a big deal. I already have cable + HBO and Showtime, its overkill really. Prob gonna cancel the movie channels too, in the end ill be saving $30/mo overall. my neighbor is switching over to my internet to cut costs, another $20 saved/mo. That's $600/yr I get back

I'm just going to drop from 2 disks to 1 and keep streaming. Break even.

"We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.

Your current $17.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray access) will be split into 2 distinct plans:

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray), 2 out at-a-time (no streaming)
for $14.99 a month

Your price for getting both of these plans will be $22.98 a month ($7.99 + $14.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.

These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

You can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the Plan Change page in Your Account.

We realize you have many choices for home entertainment, and we thank you for your business. As always, if you have questions, please feel free to call us at 1-888-357-1516."

I may drop streaming. The only thing we watch is Lost and Parks N Rec when were are bored and have nothing else to watch. Sometimes I get on a documentary kick but they are always biased and annoying to watch. If the streaming service starts getting EVERYTHING then I guess I'll jump back on. Hell they gave me no incentive to stay.

netfilx has the 90's spiderman cartoon now It was a close second to the X-men cartoon.
