Two pages of making yourself feel better through cosmetic surgery.

I agree with this, except that I would also consider hair removal on my face so I don't have to shave. There, I'm paying for the increased efficiency and time savings.

"I think that cosmetic surgery promotes a negative self image. I don't think that people should look for things that they consider flaws that need to be corrected. My mother 'fixed' what she thought was 'wrong' with my appearance. I think that sends the wrong message.

That said, I believe that cosmetic surgery has its place. My husband has had reduction surgery on his surgical scar from his cleft lip. My son will likely decide to have the appearance of his nose refined because of the asymmetry from his own cleft lip. I would also consider having a breast reduction and lift in the future."

To me, those 2 paragraphs sound contradictory to me.

There's a reason the second paragraph started with "that said."

Let me reiterate -- cosmetic surgery has its place. While there are cosmetic reasons for doing the surgeries mentioned in my second paragraph, there are also reasons beyond correcting a perceived flaw in appearance.

Something like that.

I'm saying that I dislike cosmetic surgery done solely for the sake of cosmetics.

i would be willing to bet that most cosmetic surgeries have more behind them than just cosmetics

like, for instance, body dysmorphic disorder or self esteem issues
