i certainly hope so.

if that doesn't deserve the death penalty, i don't know what crime does.

this is absolutely nuts. I was in Oslo two weeks ago, and there is not a whole lot to be mad about. They have the highest standard of living in the world, and are not particularly threatening as far as military goes.

They have a "state religion", but it's not oppressive and no one is very religious anyways.

Also

"What does "ethnic Norwegian" mean?"

They could be referring to the native population of Sami people, who the majority of Norwegians have been racist towards in the past. But you can't tell the difference between them and the regular population and the racism is no longer evident these days.

21 * 91(and counting) = good bye forever

I am sure they will punish him for eash individual death.

i am sure they will lock for him life, but your calculation is not correct, as there is no calculation involved.

according to a couple of news channels, 21 years is a ceiling for any crime, not 21 years for each death. now, i have not looked it up the norwegian penal code, but i am sure those news channels did their research.

well they don't have a separation of church and state so they have a "typical" or state endorsed religion which is simply some protestant church. I don't remember what kind specifically without looking it up.

But no one cares, because no one is terribly interested in religion, or interested in protesting for the sake of religious motivations.

So they label themselves as protestants, but no one goes to church or strictly adheres to any codes for behavior. Religion isn't a hot topic for them the same way it is in the United States.

haha it's funny you say that because they adamantly defend their position on eating whales.

I was like "aren't whales bordering on being endangered?"

and they were "NO, THATS COMPLETELY FALSE"

Besides watching a few episodes of "Whale Wars" I'm not well versed in the situation with the Japanese whale hunting and how it relates to international law.

But in Norway they defend whale hunting by saying the ones that they hunt are not endangered plus they've been doing it for 1000+ years and it's tied in to their heritage.

So if you kill someone in Norway and did 21 years in the clink, got out and killed someone again surely you don't think that he would not get 21 years for the second murder, right? I see no difference in this case. Each death seems to be a separate crime, so it can be a separate sentence.

I'm browsing through parts of it. It's interesting to look into the mind of someone who is obviously intelligent but has a me/us against the world psyche.

I'm pretty sure he feels he is doing the right thing all the time. Lack of empathy cradles this belief.

21 years is not a ceiling for prison time, it's a ceiling for a sentence to the charges. Apparently if he's given consecutive sentences then he's goin' away.

But we'll see I guess.

But as you said, we will see.

"The gunman was arrested an estimated 90 minutes after the massacre began. Police say he still had a lot of ammunition, and hospital sources said he had used dum-dum bullets, designed to disintegrate inside the body and cause maximum internal damage."

Right, the first boat started taking on water or something. I'm just commenting on how much ammo he must have brought, although shooting unarmed people shouldn't cause you to waste much.

yeah i am wondering about the ammo too... he must have left bunches of it around the landing area and close by or something, because there is no way he was carrying it all on his person throughout the rampage.

On a related topic, I think everyone should read the Unabomber's Manifesto as an adult with as open of a mind as possible. It's easy to find online. I think it portrays him in a very different light than the persona I attributed to him after the media attention back in the day.

fun fact. i did not know until yesterday that the reason he was called the Unabomber is because his original targets were universities and the airlines, this the feds originally labelled the case UN+A+BOMB or UNABOMB.

I had never paused previously to wonder why he was given that name. Just, oh, that's the Unabomber!

Confessed mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik may end up serving time in a newly built maximum-security prison that's considered among the world's most luxurious.

.
.
.

The art budget for the facility came in at more than a million dollars, Masi says, while the cells are brightly painted and lack bars on the windows. Inmates take specialty cooking classes or choose from many other courses at an in-prison high school. They can jog around the 75-acre wooded facility or even climb on the prison's rock walls.

About half of the prison guards are women, since research has suggested that a corps of female guards can help reduce aggression among the prison population. The unarmed guards eat meals and play games with prisoners.

No bars on the windows.
