What mrfrog said is hardly worth this type of response, especially when you consider how he immediately backed off once people posted quotes (and before you even entered the thread).

It was a totally benign exchange, and then you came in all venomous talking about how society is hypersensitive and quick to play the race card. It's not evident that we're even that bad off as a society, and it's definitely ridiculous for you to try to lay that criticism off on mrfrog for one skeptical comment he made about the usage of "tar baby."

the hell it isn't. His response proves my point about us being hyper-sensitive. he fucking assumed that a literary term was racist because it had an element of color in it. If that's not hyper-senstivity in action then tell me what is. it is his blanket assumption that is indicative of the problem. it doesn't make him a bad person, though.

1. His original instinct was partially appropriate: tar baby can actually be used as an offensive term for black Americans.
2. He never said anything about assuming it was racist. In fact, his entire comment was framed around assuming it wasn't racist.
3. He approached the subject with skepticism. But your comments about hypersensitive/race cards imply that he busted up in here foaming at the mouth and complaining about how insulting/racist these comments are.

You want to make this about how hypersensitive we are as a society so you're inventing those conditions in this thread. In fact, nothing like that has occurred at all. I'm sorry reality didn't match what you heard on talk radio.
