I would argue that all groups can be wrong in some aspects, but other things stated by certain groups are right. For example, Martin Luther understood at least that works could not save him and believed in salvation through Christ, however he also believed in several other ritual things, which were not supported by scripture.

Quote :
"understand the concept of god"

Absolutely true, our best understanding comes through Christ, for in him we see the perfection of the Godhead.

I don't understand why anyone on tww ever talks about religion, or argues about it in person

What is the point?

For real, what good does it do you? Let people believe what they want to believe.

So you're saying I should let them be exhibited to spend eternity in judgement and not spread a clear Gospel? I don't see how that would help anyone.

LOL, is this a serious question?

You have politicians like Renee ELmers who get elected by gloating about their urge to suppress another religion, you have the Texas school board trying to push (one flavor of) Christian creationism into nation-wide science textbooks, you have the curtailing of stem cell research on religious basis, you have politicians that can be chastised for not believing that different languages are a result of the tower of Babel, you have the massive rise in hate-crimes against brown people (muslim or otherwise) because they seem muslim to some people, and then there are the more personal effects like the parents who would nearly disown their child for not dating someone in their same denomination.

A reasonable person can be religious, but the institution of Religion trends heavily away from reason, and more towards segregation.

We have a winner. Absolute power corrupts, when one person claims they now exactly what God is saying that means they are completely lost. I never claim to have absolute authority, but no one ever discusses scripture with me aside from Disco Stu, who normally just says:

on a serious note, I actually read your last response and I actually do agree with this

but it is frustrating to even mention I'm religious and for people to automatically assume I'm just following the masses and don't have reasons for pursuing such beliefs... oh well

^ Assuming you're not one of those whackjobs that believe the entire field of radiometric dating is wrong, and neanderthal bones were planted by the devil to trick us, you can't get upset for people lumping you in with the nutters. (it doesn't help that these people make the most noise too)

And you have to realize that just like you have reasons for pursing your beliefs other people have theirs, and their reasons MIGHT be more valid (because they are more "provable").

See, that's what kills me.. I am a firm believer in science (hell, I work in the science field) but it does bother me when people try to say their beliefs are more "provable"

Just because you believe your viewpoints are more "provable" doesn't mean that it's completely right. I'm not even saying from a religious aspect that these viewpoints are right, but why put other people down for being religious just because it's not as "provable"?

I believe that Neptune is inhabited by Leprechauns and Unicorns living in the core and you can't prove that I'm wrong.
