2 pages of weight loss ideas ITT.

Myself, I have the most trouble eating healthy because of the fact that I have to eat out often for lunch.

i've been reading some on folks who consume a low fat, high protein snack before bed and the benefits of it - it keeps the body's metabolism going throughout the night.

I typically do a cleanse by making a huge crock pot of spicy Chili and eating it for every meal until it runs out (typically lasts three to four days). I usually supplement with some raw veggies too.

I'm supposed to do this once a month as a part of my religion but have been sorta lazy the past few months.

I agree fully.

I think a lot of people in this thread who say to just eat right and exercise have no idea what it is like to need to lose a lot of weight. Your body isn't going to cut fat just because you start exercising and eating right. Exercising and eating right will improve your cardio, improve your strength, improve your blood pressure, improve your cholesterol, stop the weight gain, etica etica etica. It is not going to make you cut fat though. Your body isn't going to automatically bring itself to a healthy weight without being forced to do so just because you're treating it as you should have all along.

I tend to think of weight loss as an unhealthy thing where the ends justify the means. You basically have to find a balance between providing enough calories to sustain your life/exercise routine while providing enough of a deficiency that your body relies on burning fat as fuel. Too much of a deficiency leads to muscle loss and other harmful effects.

i frequently have strange dreams and sleep fitfully when i eat too close to bed...it might be what i eat, though (not that it's the same thing every time, but i generally need to be done with dinner a minimum of 30 minutes before i go to sleep)

I don't buy the idea of a "cleanse." The body cleans itself.

there's usually some kind of bogus explanation involving "toxins." Imagine how full of toxins our grandparents were from not eating cabbage soup four times a day. Better start douching with Lysol to get all those toxins out of your vagina

I agree Nerdchick. Pretty much anything I have read about them from a source I trust has said they are basically BS.

As far as diet and nutrition go as a whole, I have always tried to eat very healthy. Along with that, within the past year I have become mostly a vegetarian. I still eat meat some out at restaurants here and there but on a daily basis I eat vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Part of that has to do with my wife being vegan.

Between some high quality chains, Trader Joes, Earth Fare, and Whole Foods we have plenty of options for high-quality, organic foods at very reasonable prices. We spend less than most people I know on food per month yet we are eating very healthily.

Also, I posted this in another thread, but the protein I use now is custom blend from True Protein that is 50% non-gmo pea isolate and 50% non-gmo rice protein. MSG-free with Stevia for the sweetener.
