My wife's 02 Volvo S60 needs the front spring seats, CV boots, and tie rod ends replaced. Any ballpark estimate on labor if I provide the parts?

Actually, yes. You're talking about 240Z or 260Z carbs. I do know quite a bit about them and have gone through them and tuned them before.

Yep. I have them on my 72 240z. I'm not familiar with them at all, and they either need a tune up or to be rebuilt.

Cool phrase. First heard it in Tombstone...Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. "I'm your huckleberry"...

And yes, I'm still your huckleberry. Wrench for hire. Step on up...

just asking for some advice here,

If a car goes into a limp mode via transmission, would you have a trasnmission specialist or a manufacturer specialist look at it?

reason i ask is that my 93 audi has gone into a limp mode and i have exhausted allmy thoughts and knowledge and got nowhere. this happend when i was trying to replace the dimmer switch on this mofo.

Thanks much to Dan for getting me set straight and back on the road after I managed to put a hole in my transmission pan last night. Both the work (getting the pan welded so I didn't have to buy a new one) and the willingness to start the job late so I could actually get home are greatly appreciated! Went the extra mile (quite a few, literally) to help me out.

Chris, I was glad to get you going, and tickled that the transmission seems to be doing okay. Gotta love the automatics without a dipstick.

Ernie...I can do it but prefer to have access to a well equipped shop to do so. We can handle it nicely here in Raleigh, where I have access to all my tools and air.

Sure, I can drive to Greensboro to do it, but what kind of tools, etc, will I have at my disposal?

I need some work done on my Blazer - nothing complicated again, I'm just lazy. I have all the necessary parts, just need some experienced labor.

My 01 4.3L Vortec Blazer has a lower intake gasket leak, common problem due to deterioration from running Dex-cool. I have a complete gasket set for it, so I'd like the lower gasket replaced along with all the other gaskets that have to come off in-between. There is also an updated part for the injection spider that is a drop-in conversion from CPI to MFI - I have this part and removal of the old one is part of the procedure to get the manifold off, so it's common to pop that in there while doing the manifold gasket replacement if you're having problems with the CPI unit (which I am). You just install the new one during reassembly instead of reinstalling the old one.

I will supply all the parts, and I'll bring a couple gallons of fresh coolant to refill with so you don't have to run out and get it. PM me with a quote, and if you have any questions about determining that, I am well versed in the procedure and have a couple good tutorials and resources bookmarked. It usually takes anywhere from 4 to 8 hours for a DIY'er, however, I'm sure it would just be a one-day deal since you know your way around already.
