so last weekend, I was down in destin visiting one of my buddies. I couldnt make it down the previous weekend because i already committed myself to some plans. So that weekend i couldnt make it, these three girls that were friends of his gf were in town and bitched that I wasnt there with some of my marine buddies. They had seen a few pictures of me and a buddy from the week before and kept saying I need to bring them back down. They all pretty much wanted to fuck us based on the fact that one of them said, "im gonna fuck the first one that walks thruogh the door" and the other saying "line 10 up and ill pick the best one".

So, of course the next weekend, I am like ahh shit. Only one of them is still in town and through the other girls, her and I talk a little. She was wanting to come out drinking with us that saturday night but couldnt because of work the next day (which is a bs job that she could have). So she says, "let me know about tomorrow and that night what yall are gonna do." she doesnt make it out onto the boat because when she finally gets off she just goes home. She says if yall go out few drinks let me know and i will join you. Then later when we are actually out having a few drinks for dinner, she says "no thank you."

My friend's sister has Downs Syndrome. She gets by most of the time, but she's still subject to outbursts every now and then. The worst was a few years back at Dairy Queen. Everyone was getting a frozen treat, but she wanted two. The rest of us were getting one a piece, but she insisted on a Butterfinger Blizzard AND and a vanilla ice cream cone with chocolate syrup and rainbow sprinkles. My friend kept trying to explain to her that she was going to have to choose one or the other, but she wouldn't hear of it. She started sobbing uncontrollably and throwing napkins and plastic silverware all over the floor. Employees and other customers kept looking at us to do something, but we really didn't know what to do. This girl weighs well over 200 pounds and can get quite confrontational when she's angry.

So the three of managed to finally subdue her with a combination of brute force and a promise to visit the pet store later that day, but it was quite an embarrassing scene for everyone involved. As we sat in the back seat of the car on the way home, I looked at her sitting next to me, snot and tears crusted on her face as she completely annihilated her food, and thought that I would never meet a bigger idiot in my life.

It's a worse avenue than "real life", though. The people on online dating sites are typically (not always) the ones who are too reserved/anxious to meet people outside of their current circle of friends in the real world. It's a way to avoid outright rejection in public, but rejection is normal and isn't actually that bad.

There are plenty of awesome people out there, but you have to go up and talk to them. Otherwise, they're just another stranger. You can discover more about your compatibility with a girl by talking to them for 10 minutes face to face than you can from a dating profile and text conversations. You can also build attraction much more effectively in the flesh - things like physical touch, body language, and eye contact are crucial.
