God I wish Ron Paul had a chance in hell of being elected

He doesn't, but he's been hanging out around 10% for a few months now. He's third in most polls.
That is already a triumph, considering he was under 1% before the May 2007 debate, when most politicos said he would drop out simply due to embarrassment from the supposed shellacking that Giuliani gave him.
Four years later and he's third in most polls. And the front-runner by a wide margin lost his temper.
It's been a good ride, and it isn't quite over. It's over as far as not winning, but there are a few more beehives he can poke and issues he can frame. 9/8/2011 12:32:42 PM |

Are you serious? You really think I'm a republican? 9/8/2011 12:38:37 PM |

I shouldn't have to opt-out of shit if it concerns my own body and the government damn sure shouldn't be in the business of pushing vaccinations on anyone. Especially Perry who is obviously in bed with large corporations. Wonder how much the HPV vaccine manufactures made off his little stunt?
The point is that Perry claims to be some fucking John Wayne, hard-core ,limited government republican and then he strips away one of a persons most basic rights, which is deciding what's healthy for their own body. He is extremely hypocritical and, therefore, not someone I could whole-heartedly trust as my president.9/8/2011 6:24:01 PM |

They are all hypocritical. They are career members of one of the major political parties. Here is the criteria they use to create their political platform:
1. What do voters like right now, and how to I reshape my past deeds to reflect that? 2. What is the opposite of what the other major party wants?
Ron Paul is the only one who doesn't follow the party dogma to the letter. Unfortunately, he's completely out-of-touch with modern society in a "the internet is a series of tubes" kind of way. I don't think he has the mental acuity to be the President. 9/8/2011 7:06:14 PM |

But he didn't. That's what you're not getting through your thick head. I'm not saying having an opt-out was the best thing to do. But he didn't "strip away one of a persons most basic rights." You're no better than a politician when you resort to hyperbole to put down and oppose someone you don't care for.9/8/2011 8:06:40 PM |

And you're no better than a politician by resorting to name calling in a political debate.
My argument is that I shouldn't be placed into any type of government program regarding my health-care without my consent. It doesn't matter if you have the option to negate. What matters is that you are involuntary entered into a government run health care program and I feel that violates my individual rights. With the opt-out option, basically, the government is saying "we give you the right to not follow our directions". I don't need their fucking permission.
From what I gather, you are not a republican nor any type of conservative so I'm not sure why you really care unless you have just resorted to trolling?9/8/2011 8:43:31 PM |

I have a surprise for you: you're involuntarily entered into hundreds of life-long government programs when you're born here.
Most don't have an "opt-out". 9/9/2011 8:28:33 AM |

Selective Service, just in case they want to institute a draft.
Oh, and the IRS. 9/9/2011 11:08:38 AM |

If the second one requires an "Oh," then I'll assume there aren't really hundreds of them. 9/9/2011 11:19:43 AM |

Through the IRS, your tax dollars are used to fund hundreds of programs. 9/9/2011 11:53:02 AM |

I guess I took "involuntarily entered" a little differently. I know I fund them involuntarily (unless I just don't work or spend in the legit economy), but that doesn't quite seem the same as entering them.
I haven't "entered" a poker game if somebody takes my money to play in it. 9/9/2011 4:27:37 PM |

You have if the outcome of the game affects your life, as all those government programs do. Invading Iraq may not have impacted you much directly, but it has altered your life, if only by making your Canadian friends ashamed of you. 9/9/2011 11:38:23 PM |
