i thought saffron was kinda meh when i went. When i saw the head chef at Mantra was the former chef for Saffron it kinda made me a little nervous.
it was ok, but def not great and overpriced.
My favorite Indian places in Raleigh are Azitra and Zayka, both in Briar Creek
worst place is India Mahal on Hillsborough, obv.
Suchi in Cary is pretty decent, and Kadhai off Glenwood is nice too. 9/9/2011 12:56:31 PM

why is it that everyone who finds "the best in the area" has to find it in brier creek? it's too damn far away!! 9/9/2011 1:04:34 PM

I went to Saffron when it first opened about five years ago and wasn't impressed; it was way to americanized.

I swear that place is a mafia front or something There's hardly ever cars there and it's been bad since at least the 90s. 9/9/2011 1:40:36 PM

Last time I went to Chefs of India in Cary they had knocked down walls, reorganized everything and there was a friggin bluegrass band playing.
I will tell you right now tho that my main Indian crush is Bombay-Beijing

I have been curious about that place ever since I saw it. I have a hard time imagining Indian-Chinese fusion food. But it always seems busy so it must be pretty good.
They're opening an Indian Italian place too? I think that I have an even harder time imagining

There is not one restaurant that is consistently good in the triangle area. Most of them suck in the service factor too because most of them are operated by someone who is not a full time restaurateur. 9/9/2011 4:10:42 PM

^ I think they had to after they were on WRAL for getting a 70 on their health inspection.
Bombay Grill in Cary was good. However, my main memory of the place was not noticing that I'd been served water in a glass with a chipped rim and then spraying blood all over the table as I pulled a shard out of my lower lip. Food was good.] 9/9/2011 4:26:34 PM

It's still delicious though. I was still going to the old gumbys location after I heard about their terrible health inspections. The dirt makes it good. 9/9/2011 5:04:41 PM

I've only been there once, but it looked to me like most of it was pretty standard fare for an Indian restaurant. Both what I and what the girl who was with me ordered were pretty normal Indian dishes. 9/9/2011 5:57:39 PM
