I'm pretty sure this guy didn't make up the rule...He was just abiding by company policy for that particular restaurant. Spend a fake $50 on three items from the $.99 menu and you just paid a $3 service charge to turn your fake cash into real. In any case, if that's policy and he's just doing his job they need to chill out for a minute and let him do what he has to do.

both sides screwed up, but I bet those "thugs" (for lack of a better word) will think twice before hopping a counter when they don't get their fries biggy sized for free. And now a man with violent tendencies will end up back in prison. As long as they live through it with no lingering issues (other than a new respect with how to act), I think this is not the worst thing to ever happen. Yall would not defend these women if it had been a single woman behind the counter standing her ground and they jumped her.

I believe if you want to play by your own rules and choose violent outburst as a viable solution to a problem, then fuck it if that comes back and bites you in the ass because you did it to the wrong person.

The other day I went to Mcdonalds for lunch and it was super busy. The workers were rushing around and seemingly going as fast as they could. A woman in front of me who was waiting on her food like the rest of us started to complain. She said she had been waiting way longer than anyone else here, which was a lie because she ordered after me. The cashier explained that they were very busy and were going as fast as they can but she continued to bitch and complain. Finally the manager told the workers to bump up her order, so she was next to get her food. Then as she turned around with her tray, her large soda fell over and spilled on her shirt. I couldn't help but smile.

I've watched multiple versions of the video, and it's evident to me that he's not beating them while they lay on the ground. He's beating them each time they try to get back up. In this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzE_ulh_rIA&feature=related , you can see that following the initial beating, one of their heads breaches the counter before he starts at it again.

Really, I think his defense might be right there in the video that is supposedly so incriminating:

They did him physical harm by slapping him. They verbally made it clear that they intended to do more physical harm to him. And, after he walked away, they jumped the counter and continued to pursue him. They kept trying to get back up (possibly continuing to make verbal threats). And, by my estimation, they could have a good 200 pounds on him as a pair.

I don't think he used excessive force. Furthermore, I think his actions are entirely understandable when you consider his background in prison: you have to defend yourself.

I watched the same video again, but blown up a little bit more, and after reading what a few other people have said, the only hits I would even consider calling excessive were the ones that occurred off camera...but you'd have to actually prove they were excessive and not assume they are. The dude actually showed restraint twice. After they were both on the ground, he took one hand off the metal rod, and started to step back...until one (or both) of them started to get back up.

Dude might have been a little angry, but if two random strangers (one of whom just hit me across the counter) hopped over the counter and none of my coworkers did anything to stop them, I probably wouldn't hold back either.

Yep, seeing that slightly larger video makes that, which I kinda suspected at first, much more clear. Looks to me like he pretty much handled it just like he should have.

-tried to avoid situation
-had a weapon readily accessible
-brutally and decisively mauled them once they left him no other choice
-maintained awareness of both threats
-immediately stopped once they were down and no longer a threat
-immediately reattacked at the first sign that they might continue their attack, but again only with the force needed to lay them out on the floor again


Good for him. He didn't take any of their shit, and he showed pretty remarkable restraint considering he spent a decade in the slammer (and what I would view a appropriate in general, regardless of his background)

I mean, I find the idea of hitting women pretty distasteful. Blame a lifetime of conditioning. This isn't the same of imposing your will on a woman via violence, taking advantage of your size and strength. These broads went looking for a fight, were pretty damned big, and there were two of them.

Lesson learned, hopefully. Don't go starting fights unless that's really what you want, haha...and once you go down that road, all bets are off and you can't expect someone to not fuck your world up.
