If you like disc golf and football then I would check out the Ultimate club team or ultimate pick up games, it sorta combines those two interests (sorta). I'm pretty sure not all of their teams are super competitive or anything. You could probably find someone to with out there also.

try the geology, plant biology and zoology clubs if you want to meet people that like nature and plants and animals, if they still exist. talk to people who look like they are interested in class in the same courses you are interested. don't discount older students who obviously don't live on campus anymore, i stayed better friends with these people than dorm-room drinking buddies.

i dont like clubs because its more responsiblity and rigidity of schedule which i would imagine is the last thing a transfer student needs.

I didnt really make friends with anyone other than athletes because i avoided partying, worked late as student patrol on weekends, worked out, and worked after class in the greenhouses...and went home and slept. So i guess do the opposite of everything I did

But seriously, people here have given good suggestions. Clubs, classmates, intramural sports...all good ways to meet people. Also, very few people here are still students...I am, but I feel like I'm definitely in the minority.

I can attest to this. I walked around that damn campus for a year before I really got to know anyone on more than a "want to study sometime?" level. I only started making friends when I got into the core classes of my major.
