I love shrooms, and I try to eat them daily. Had a delicious shroom soup yesterday.
I have had more shrooms (and persimmons and sweet potatoes) in the past 3 years than I have had in my whole life before that. 2/8/2022 2:55:04 PM |

Peoples opinions on schrooms are unpredictable. Sometimes they are out there and sometimes they are super paranoid. 2/8/2022 3:25:20 PM |

They're essentially legal in Oakland and you can buy them super easily. Some of the worst trips I've ever had have been on mushrooms, as opposed to acid, so I'm not the biggest fan, but I suppose I'm an outlier. I vastly prefer to be the driver instead of the passenger on a psychedelic voyage, so that's probably why. 2/8/2022 4:56:58 PM |

I don't think there is a such thing as being the driver when it comes to psychedelics] 2/8/2022 6:51:35 PM |

^I don't think you've done enough acid, mescaline, DMT, ayahuasca, and mushrooms to be able to tell the difference. The first two are much more alike than the last three in terms of effects which are highly subjective to begin with. Acid and mescaline have a completely different body high and much more electric/digital/pixelated visuals, while the others are much more organic and Dr. Seuss-ish and have me couch-locked and wanting me to avoid people and public spaces.
I guess you'll just have to take my word for it. 2/8/2022 9:40:15 PM |

Psychedelic, by definition, means your consciousness is altered, meaning you are no longer the one driving. 2/8/2022 10:35:03 PM |

It's just an analogy, and it's one I didn't even invent and have heard from others. Another popular one is that acid is like an electric/digital experience, while shrooms are like an acoustic/analogue one.
As substances they share some commonalities, especially the ability to experience audio/visual distortions, but I think they're a lot more different than alike. For one, acid/mescaline lasts for like ~13 hours and shrooms only last about 4-6. The come-up on acid is a lot more pleasant and energizing than the come-up on shrooms where many people, including me, get very nauseated and feel physically uncomfortable. The comedown from acid is the least pleasant part of the trip for me because I'm sad that it's ending and I feel so wired and wide awake after everything I've seen and experienced, while the comedown from shrooms is the best part, because it feels like I'm finally "coming home" and feeling normal again. If you do too much of either, unpleasant thought loops that seem never ending can set in, but acid doesn't fuck with my emotions or evoke awful/painful memories in the way that shrooms have.
Also, acid/mescaline give me tons of energy and a headspace that allows me to do all kinds of things I'd never feel comfortable doing on mushrooms (or ayahuasca where you're puking and shitting your brains out), like going to music festivals, art galleries, snorkeling, hiking, riding roller coasters, etc. You can puke too on mescaline, but once it's over, I have always felt fucking great wanted to go out and explore/socialize. Smoking DMT you aren't fucking going anywhere because you're catatonic and visiting aliens for 10-15 mins.
That's what I mean about being in the driver's seat-- I simply feel more comfortable and in control of the direction of my own experience, whereas shrooms and ayahuasca you're just along for the ride and you never know when the trip is going to turn dark and nasty.
But you are correct in that either substance is dramatically altering your consciousness and perception of reality-- I just 'feel' way more in control over what's going on during an acid trip than when I'm on shrooms. 2/8/2022 11:02:10 PM |

I bought a big container of dried gourmet mushrooms. You're supposed to soak them for a while and then boil them. I've only tried them once in soup. They turned out kind of tough. 2/10/2022 11:07:59 AM |
