Blue is yummy. For something cheaper Bistro la Bon is probably one of Charlotte's best new restaurants. If you want Italian and not super expensive both Dolce on East and Fiamma are yummy. Charlotte has a disproportionate amount of good restaurants due to all the snobby rich bankers. They do pull in the nice food.

Good Food on Montford is also yummy. There's so many places. I usually make my lists per neighborhood though.

Coming back into town this weekend to see her and wanna take her somewhere decently nice... and I'll probably be wearing my dress blues because it'll be friday (we wear them every friday at my command) and she wants to see me in uniform. I'm thinking good italian that I'm not gonna pay out my ass for.

Was just there last night for Tuesday Gnocchi. Was delicious. They had a gorgonzola gnocchi. Definitely my favorite sauce for it.

Yeah it's delicious. I've made it a couple times. Both ricotta and potato gnocchi are relatively easy to make. The hard part is making the gorgonzola sauce just right.

Heh. I ate my weight in kebabs in Italy.

Need more ideas of shit to do in Charlotte. Not necessarily food, but anything that's actually fun.

TWW, I need your ideas! Shit to do, not restaurants. Already figured out where I'm taking her for dinner, need something good to do that isn't going to the movies, and preferably can be done in a dress uniform

Both the Bechtler Museum and the New Mint Museum of Art are pretty awesome. There's a restaurant in the Mint you can grab drinks/food at after you walk through the museum. The Levine museum is great too.

You should also go see Mummies of the World at Discovery Place. Largest exhibition of mummies in the world:

There's also ice skating outside the Nascar hall of fame. It was packed last time I drove by.

There's a bunch to do you just need to tell us what you like to do. The gallery crawls in NoDa every 1st/3rd Friday of the month are always fun.

South End has events all the time:

http://southendclt.com/events/

Charlotte has a good many venues too if you're into music. The Double Door is known for being the oldest live music venue east of the Mississippi (owned by same guy).

Neighborhood Theatre is in NoDa:

http://www.neighborhoodtheatre.com/

A few good local theatres in the area as well:

Or if you want Broadway:

http://www.blumenthalarts.org/

The White Water Center is fun (more so in the summer) but they have a restaurant/bar and live music on occasion. Probably don't want to be in the water in the winter but there's a bunch of bike trails, ropes courses, and rock climbing.

If you want a short hike Crowder's mountain is great and you get a pretty awesome view of Charlotte. About 45 minutes away.

Or South Mountain:

If you want to impress a lady I'd take her to the Mint Museum, have dinner, then take her ice skating uptown and then maybe some drinks.

We've already talked about restaurants but if you're uptown Blue is great.

I've been wanting to check out this place for a while:

All the food is locally raised/grown and free range.

Here's the place in the Mint Museum:

Did you actually ask her what she's done in Charlotte? I find it hard to believe she's done all of the above.

she's really in the the art/music scene, so she's done pretty much all of it. short of being in town for one of those gallery crawls (which unfortunately i won't be) there's not much to do that's new to her.

i think the next time i'll be able to really do something special in charlotte is if i can get tool tickets for when they come in feb
