When he performed on Conan he ended the song with "But not really, you give the most adequate handjobs"

Also an excellent line.

This album and Mac Miller's album are on constant rotation still.

I don't find his voice annoying at all, and I'm loving this album. Then again, I also listen to Freeway.

wow.

so at first he first reminded me of kid cudi...in variety of types of songs, some of the lyric themes and wittiness, nerdiness and how he's different than most rappers. also on a related note a number of the tracks sound kayne produced, but obviously aren't. lastly, and a little weirdly, a couple of the tracks sound like he's trying to do a weezy impression.

after one day of solid listening, i'm into it.

I think he did a good job producing all of those tracks. Impressive.

^^ that's a pretty odd comment. Do you listen to hip hop? What groups do you like?

I listen to aesop rock, roots, talib, nas, deathgrips, saul williams, I just don't like this new 'style' because it sounds like the rapping was done to a click track and the beats were added later, so there's a disconnect between the music and the words, in pitch and rhythm.

i am actually impress with xsmp's assumption, i wouldnt have excpected such analysis from him

i agree with him...i cant speak for this particular album but this disjunct from the beat is pretty prevalent. its like the rappers rap uptempo and then shop for uptempo beats kinda, at least for the singles.

I mean, CG makes his own beats so he obviously does what he wants with the tracks. But if you don't like it, you don't like it.

i don't have to listen to every bit of his work to have the opinion that the majority of the new album is garbage. let me ask you something bruh: are you gonna start singing along with this, learn all the words?

I was trying to see if you had the same criticism for that song, because if you do, then I don't understand your criticism. If you don't, then I think I may understand what you're saying.

And am I going to sing a long? umm, what?

the first chunk is fine until the snare only part, then it's crap until he says "i'm back in the game and goes fast, but when he says 'read the news' it starts sucking again
i turned it off after that

typical internet.

nearly all the critics love this album, but METAL AS FUCK XSMP speaks like he's some authority on rap calling it garbage. i mean it's one thing to say you don't like it, but for you speak like you're some sort of authority is hilarious, especially considering those "beats" you put together.

so by saying you dont like something you are making yourself out to be an authority?

it would be BS if he had no reason at all to not like the album, but XSMP was challenged and in response he gave his reason

what is really annoying are those that refuse or cant come up with a reason why they do not like something.

O THAT NIGGA JUST HATIN....im sure XSMP would tell you to your face why he doesnt like the album, who are you to be afraid of?

that being said, i still want to listen to the album but Ive heard a little that i didnt like, but its rare to like all the songs on an album anyway you know

I am not in a position of authority over anything - I'll be the first to tell you that becoming an accomplished musician takes time...certainly more than 4 months of making beats while smoking bud.
I crank out a lot of music in all styles, I play a bunch of instruments, and I think it's great to be a musician in this era.

Nowadays I think I have a natural affinity towards rappers that have a college degree. I have always been a big J Cole fan too. And they both produce their own music.

Then again I like Mac Miller's Blue Slide Park

Then I'll listen to Flocka for fun once or twice a month

While I've given Kooley High a chance, and respect their music, I just don't listen to them. In my opinion, that style is kinda lazy and their music doesn't offer me much.

But I think they have skills and I check in in what they do every once in a while to see if they ever get over that creativity hump. And I'd definitely go see them live if I could.

I still love 9th as a producer, and Little Brother as a band was great but got boring after a while. So when another group comes out and sounds just like them but not quite as good...

MEH

Can't do it!

If you're going to have that "lazy" style, that's cool, but you have to compensate with some creativity, or something somewhere. For me at least. Or even just rap ABOUT something rather than a song full of randomness about how you're doing it for your city. I NEED MORE!

maybe XSMP is confused by the swing

in which case he should never listen to a Nicolay beat or an Aston Barrett bassline
