I'm not quite sure I'm clear on what you are mad about? That he tried to "low ball" you at $250 or that he made a counter offer to your counter offer? Or that that offer was only a small amount in relation to the overall price of the item??

Also, $275 appears to be on the high side for a year old sounddock. A brand new in the box one sold on eBay for $250. Most used sell for far less than that. Unless it is a SoundDock 10. which in that case you wouldn't have been selling it for $275 to begin with.

If you are listing something for 275 on Craigslist and won't take 250 for it, then you probably don't want to sell it anyway. If you have tons of calls on it and can get your asking price no problem, then thats a different story, but it's not like you had some tickets to the hot sold out concert in town that everyone wants. You are selling a used item with low demand. You aren't a retail store.

Hell I listed a used bed I bought for $150 from a friend a few months ago. I put it up for $100 cause i just wanted to get rid of it. Had a few calls for it, but nothing panned out. One girl came by to look at it and offerend me $50, and I agreed on it.

It sounds like you don't need the money, and could still use the item, so why even sell it if you aren't gonna take 250 for it?

Christmas season a couple years ago I used my dads upgrade to get an iPhone 4 for $199, then listed it on CL for 600, slightly below the going rate for them on eBay. Had tons of demand for it, and knew that I would have no problem getting the 600 for it. Some fucks offered 400-500 for it, which given these circumstances, was absolutely ridiculous given the demand. This is not the case with your item.

Even if the seller doesn't have the courtesy to take the ad down when the item is sold, you're still wasting everyone's time by asking if it's still for sale. Just assume it is and get on with it--the seller will have to respond to you anyway.

Your Scenario:
You: "Is this still for sale? Do you sell to idiots?"
Her: "Yes" or "No"
You: "Great! I'll give you ..." or "No to the idiot thing or no it's not for sale?"
--continue--

Better Scenario:
You: "Assuming, it's still for sale, I'll give you ..."
--continue--
