If I were stealing the tv channels, then I wouldn't care to much about the quality- but I'd rather pay for better quality and thus want to make sure my hardware works properly. I don't think I'm going to notice a terrible amount of difference in quality of shitty vs good mp3's on my 15 dollar ear buds

lol maybe I'm just used to stretch. I didn't realize the improper aspect was so noticeable. My TV is an older plasma so I always try to avoid bars on the side.

the worst is when channels would squeeze a movie to make it fit on an old tv screen. i remember watching die hard back in the day and Bruce Willis's head was twice as tall as it was wide

Try playing an NES or SNES game on a modern TV. It looks way better on a 90s TV with the square aspect ratio and CRT display.
