Last time we beat them was 2/5/2006. They've definitely had our number lately...plus we've been pretty bad over that time.

They just lost their OC, too.
fta:
Coxson is the eighth Maryland player with eligibility remaining to depart since the end of the season, and the 20th with eligibility left to leave since Edsall’s hire in January. 12/14/2011 4:50:46 PM |

I say good. If guys can't handle a little discipline, then I'm sure the coach and the rest of the players don't want them there to mess up the season.
This could turn things around for the Terps now...in about two or three seasons. 12/14/2011 8:44:15 PM |

Randy Edsall’s first season fractured Maryland football; can he repair it?
It's a long but good read.
Some tidbits:
Quote : | " Some Maryland starters were in perilous academic situations when Edsall arrived, and despite the team making significant progress under Edsall, academics continued to be an issue for some important players throughout the season. At one point, a prominent player was caught lying about missing an important academic assignment.
In addition, multiple players were disciplined for failing drug tests, including at least one who failed multiple tests. And multiple players cursed out Edsall to his face in the Gossett Team House in separate incidents: one when Edsall met a player about academics and another when Edsall urged a player to eat in the team house.
One well-respected player’s father privately said that several upperclassmen had a sense of “entitlement” and “inflated egos.” And one person within the program said football became a “chore” under Edsall. By the time Maryland played Towson on Oct. 1, the locker room was fractured." |
Quote : | "Edsall does not permit team members to wear hats or earrings in the football building. Players are not permitted to wear earphones while lifting weights in the team weight room.
“We make sure everyone is dressed the same, so we are not individuals,” he said. “The same thing when we go on the practice field. All we did was bring some uniformity to practice, just like every other team in the country.”
Regarding earphones in the weight room, Edsall said there are safety concerns and added that “it’s not Gold’s Gym” and that music plays in the weight room." |
I couldn't get the whole article without signing up for some spam.
I would LOVE to know the attitude of the locker room and what was said right when Fat Bastard was fired. Did he instigate some bad blood? Was he so wholly undisciplined that the guys didn't think they had to work hard ("chore")?12/16/2011 7:03:23 PM |

Everything he did sounds a little too reasonable. 12/16/2011 7:38:22 PM |

I'm going to turn into a closet UMD fan if Edsall keeps on these guys with his discipline.
Except when we play them. 12/16/2011 9:41:49 PM |
