I dated a girl who didn't go through all my texts.

I never had anything to hide though, but if I found out she did without my knowledge there would be some serious repercussions. That's a pretty serious invasion of privacy and lack of trust.

@ 1st post - you could really mitigate this by not keeping texts and emails that you don't need. i clear out my text msgs and emails daily, one reason, not least of which being that if i lost my phone i don't want people going through my shit

that being said, fuck anyone who takes someone's phone and goes through it.

you people are missing the point with keypad locks, cleaning up messages, etc.
This thread is about the level of self-doubt and instability required to even think about doing stuff like this.

also people who believe this kind of behaviour is acceptable because they have something to hide. my immediate first response would be to demand she hand her phone over and watch me go through her shit. if she refuses throw her out on the spot

^ Funny you say that. I took her phone and acted like I was going to go through it. I didn't want to look at her old messages, I don't want to see what those dudes were texting her. That shit's ridiculous. She ended up taking the phone back after a few seconds, and I was like wtf, i thought i could look through your shit like you looked through mine. She responded that if I looked at the stuff guys texted her a few months ago i might get upset. I don't know if I would get upset, but I know I just don't want to see that shit. Anyway, at that point, she understood how stupid it was for her to think looking through my phone was a good idea.

She did proceed to say it was different with me because she knew I was talking to my ex (which i was, because have un-finished business involving money and belongings) - then I basically told her to go fuck herself.

Fun night. Horrifying to wake up to a girl yelling at you, cursing at you, and telling you to get the fuck out of her apartment though!

I have avoided this problem through unconventional means. Any girl who dates me knows I have an enormous amount of trouble hitting on one girl. If I was trying to go after two at once -- even ignoring the stress of keeping shit secret -- I'd be an incoherent pile of stress goo. So in spite of my many, many, many faults, women can at least be assured I'm not fooling around on them because I haven't had a fucking aneurysm.
